Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Day shiftOne week 2 12's and 2 8's,second week 2 12's and 1 8hr.Weekend rotation, Holiday and Call

Major Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the positioning and immobilization of patients and proper selection of technical factors along with computer reformatting of acquired data to obtain magnetic resonance scans of optimal quality.
  • Accountable for optimal quality Cardiac MRI services including working with the Cardiologist to create and maintain Cardiac MRI protocols, ensuring patients are scheduled and prepared according to the guidelines, post processing of images and providing Cardiac training for MRI technologist. Keeping a abreast of new techniques and attending educational Cardiac MRI seminars.
  • Accountable for securing pertinent history from patient, patient’s chart or family member to provide the radiologist and cardiologist with adequate information for examination interpretation and to ensure procedural criteria is met.
  • Accountable for being compliant with established Accrediting Organization and department safety standards to ensure patients and staff well being at all times.
  • Accountable for obtaining documentation for department records related to patient statistics, supplies, patient billing information and preservation of patient records.
  • Accountable for keeping abreast of current magnetic resonance, and radiological skills and of new developments in the field.
  • Accountable for maintaining good relations when dealing with all persons encountered in daily performance of job. Associate is expected to follow the Advocate Standards of Behavior. Associate is expected to use AIDET when interacting with patients, family members, and visitors.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) registration and certification issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) certification issued by the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)

Education Required:

  • Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology or MRI.

Experience Required:

  • Typically requires 3 years experience in MRI and 1 year of experience in Pediatric/Cardiac MRI.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Advanced knowledge of cross sectional anatomy and routine MRI procedures.
  • Knowledge of Cardiac anatomy and Cardiac function.
  • Knowledge of specialized MRI procedures including but not limited to Cardiac and Fetal MRI.
  • Knowledge and experience with post process of Cardiac MRI Procedures.
  • Ability to work overtime when required.
  • Ability to be flexible in starting times to meet demands.(weekend rotation and flexible hours.)
  • Attends additional educational and safety in-services.
  • Ability to respond to work at short notice.
  • Ability to operate portable equipment.
  • Ability to deal with extremely ill patients.
  • Ability to communicate with patients.
  • Ability to adjust to flexible work hours.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and emergency call-back.
  • Ability to participate on-call program and available to department needs with minimal notice.
  • Ability to make independent professional decisions using good judgment skills.
  • Ability to practice high quality patient care and technical competence.
  • Ability to function with minimal assistance in performing job activities.
  • Ability to demonstrate oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to attend out-of-town site visits to view equipment.
  • This position will need to recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated, i.e., understand child growth and development, normal patterns of adolescent behavior and look for signs of normal aging. Prior experience with various age groups is preferred

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Exposed to radiation.
  • May be exposed to hazardous chemicals.
  • If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
