Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Monday – Friday, normal business hours.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the bid review process, analyzes quotations, and proposals. Reviews submittals for accuracy and conformity to specifications. Assists in the selection process.
  • Manages all phases from planning, design and construction of bid projects. Oversees consultants, architects, engineers, general contractors, subcontractors and other professional activities on both outside bid jobs and internal hospital-contracted jobs. Insures all projects are built according to specifications.
  • Prepares initial budget estimates for approval.
  • Administers and maintain construction projects and documentation. Prepares change orders for approval. Reviews and processes pay requests. Maintains and updates project budget tracking sheets.
  • Coordinates contractor meetings, inspects progress of contractor work as related to project schedule, coordinates construction activities that directly affect hospital operations and updates appropriate personnel.
  • Responsible for project planning. Attends planning meeting with user groups, insuring that the design meets their needs and works within budget. Interfaces with contracted architects and staff architects, designers, engineers, and consultants to insure that construction documents conform to the design intent.
  • Prepares and updates life-safety ILSM project documents, coordination and review of fire evacuation, IDPH comments, and Accrediting Organization comments. By law, and our internal procedures, all project final construction/permit documents must be archived and available access by Advocate Aurora. Position is responsible for the stewardship of these legal documents on Advocate Aurora’s behalf.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • None Required.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, or
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Building & Construction, or
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field.

Experience Required:

  • Typically requires 7 years of experience in project management with majority of experience in hospital or healthcare field.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Basic skills in computer word processing, scheduling, and accounting spreadsheets
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical data
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • Exposed to a normal office environment.
