Major Responsibilities:
- Reviews and manages bloodborne pathogen and communicable disease exposures, providing counseling, education, and treatment according to established protocols.
- Conducts medical surveillance programs to promote compliance with policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Performs or coordinates post-offer medical clearance for new hires and volunteers, including medical history, immunizations, drug screening, and other testing as indicated.
- Follows established protocols to order and review laboratory results, ensuring appropriate teammate follow-up. Keep accurate, detailed records of assessments, consultations, treatments, and referrals.
- Provides virtual assessments for sick or injured teammates and facilitates medical intervention when needed.
- Supports respiratory protection programs through medical clearance and surveillance according to policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Participates in designated teams and workgroups, contributing to strategies and recommendations to promote the health & safety of teammates.
- Counsel teammates on health maintenance, lifestyle risk factors, and return-to-work guidance following communicable disease exposure or illness.
- Directs communication to appropriate stakeholders when workplace hazards are identified, advocating for the health & safety of the teammate.
- Monitors vaccination compliance, supporting annual influenza vaccination efforts or other vaccination programs as necessary.
- May be required to work weekends, evenings, nights and holidays depending on department needs.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Registered Nurse, must obtain licensure in all states where care is provided within 6 months of hire
Education Required:
- Associate degree in Nursing
Experience Required:
- At least 3 years' experience as a Registered Nurse
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Ability to develop rapport and maintain positive relationships with a variety of patients, family, staff, and physicians.
- Good organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions.
- Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation within a windows operating system, and use of electronic mail and electronic medical records systems.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Works primarily in a fast-paced, remote environment. Transportation to other sites may be required. Must work in a safe manner following all Advocate policies and procedures. Must be able to work in a variety of settings, including on-site when needed. Frequently deals with stressful situations. May be exposed to blood and body fluids. Must have functional vision, speech, touch, and hearing.
Preferred Job Requirements
Preferred Certification/License/Registration
- RN with COHN or COHN-S
Preferred Education
- BSN or MSN in Nursing
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience in an occupational or teammate health setting preferred.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Knowledge of immunization, communicable diseases, and regulatory guidelines preferred.
