Monday – Friday 8-5pm or 4pm-9pm with weekend/holiday rotation.

The Aurora Psychiatric Hospital Pharmacy Team performs a variety of services for behavioral health patients serving the both the MHEC and APH campuses.  This team uses a blended inpatient and outpatient pharmacy staffing model to optimize impact on transitions of care for inpatients and medication fulfillment for the behavioral health inpatients, a Community Based Residential Facility and the Mental Health Emergency Center (Milwaukee).  All staff is trained in inpatient and outpatient pharmacy functions and enjoy working with behavioral health patients in a collaborative pharmacy environment with staff from varying pharmacy backgrounds.  You must have the ability to drive between the two facilities.  

In this role you may be responsible for the following

Performs a variety of clerical, distributive, technical and data gathering duties in order to provide medications to patients and support the pharmacists.

Develops competence in dispensing and delivery of medications. This includes developing competence in the department’s use of information systems, technology, and automation used for dispensing and storage of medications.

Develops competence in preparing non-sterile products following USP, state, and federal recommendations, as required.

Develops competence in entering medication orders in the computer system and/or processing medication requests via the computer system.

Develops competence in managing phone calls from customers and team members such as nurses, physicians or patients. This includes accurately understanding and interpreting the issue, timely resolution, or timely hand-off to another team member as appropriate.

Develops competence in pharmacy procedures and documentation as required, satisfying legal, regulatory, and department requirements of pharmacy practice.

Complies with legal, regulatory, accreditation standards. This includes (but is not limited to) controlled substance procedures, USP procedures and DNV requirements.

Scheduled Hours

Variety of first and second shifts with weekend/holiday rotation.

Licenses & Certifications

Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) issued by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board needs to be obtained within 2 years.

Degrees

High School Graduate.

Required Functional Experience

No experience required, previous pharmacy tech experience preferred
