·         SLP should have at least a minimum of 3 years of professional working experience in multitude of settings (acute, outpatient, acute inpatient rehab)·         SLP should have a strong understanding and working background with medically complex patient caseload encompassing chronic diseases and cancer.·         SLP should be able to manage a standard 1:1 outpatient productivity expectation of 80%·         This position will involve working between 2 clinics located at the hospital campus and community comprehensive neurological outpatient clinic (within <1 mile from each other)·         Areas of specialization this position will include is a combination of the following patient populations:o   Video swallows – including head and neck cancero   Voiceo   Neurological

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all principal accountabilities of a Speech Language Pathologist I
  • Participation in educational / mentoring activities with Speech Language Pathology students, medical students, peers, Hospital staff and / or the community.
  • Participation in Rehab Services growth and operations.
  • Responsible for staying abreast of clinical and operational developments.
  • Assumes other related responsibilities as assigned.

Licensure:

  • Illinois state licensure

Education/Experience Required:

  • Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • 2-3 years of clinical experience in medical setting.
  • Experience with student supervision.
  • Advanced continuing education.
  • Experience in providing in-services to peers.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Good communication skills.
  • Independence in providing advanced level of clinical skills and expertise.
  • ASHA certification (CCC/A)
  • 0-3 Credential (for Peds patients)

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • May be exposed to hazardous materials and life-threatening diseases.
  • Direct contact with body fluids
  • Ability to assist, escort, transfer, and respond to patient needs for extended periods of time.
  • Weekends, early evening hour and holidays
  • Off campus locations
  • This requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 08/01/2014. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
