Schedule Details/Additional Information:
8-10 hours a day Mon-Fri, no holidays or weekends

Major Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with project teams in developing and implementing research plans and protocols, conducting analyses, and preparing reports, abstracts and manuscripts.
  • Conducts research experiments and assures the validity and reliability of all collected data.
  • In consultation with Research Scientists, monitors the operation of complex technical procedures and equipment.
  • Assists in design and/or modification of experimental and routine research and/or patient-related testing procedures according to the needs of the department.
  • Performs regular scientific literature searches and maintains current and complete literature referencing.
  • Submits grant application(s) to obtain research funding and manuscript(s) for publication based on research project.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • None Required.
  • MD preferred

Education Required:

  • Doctorate Degree in Health Science or related field.

Experience Required:

  • No experience required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Previous knowledge in the designated field of science is required.
  • Strong critical/analytic thinking and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Understanding of good clinical practices and the laws, regulations, standards and guidance governing the conduct of clinical studies and the preparation of clinical documentation in support of regulatory submissions.
  • Understanding of various computer systems and databases. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experienced in developing and delivering presentations, reports, and business correspondence.
  • Minimum of two peer-reviewed publications.
  • Ability to interact on a scientific level with medical staff and other researchers.
  • Demonstrated effective organizational and time management skills, professional communications, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of scientific methodologies, procedures, and basic experimental theories/applications.
  • Prior clinical research experience in cardiovascular medicine is required.
  • Candidates with prior peer-reviewed publications will be preferred.
  • Data analysis independently will be preferred.
  • Experience with scientific writing.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Exposed to normal office environment.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time as well as stand and walk throughout each workday.
  • Ability to work some evening and weekend hours to accommodate patient treatment schedules and/or research lab needs.
  • Capable of using the hands for fine manipulation required for performing measuring/pipetting, operating laboratory and computer equipment.
  • May be exposures to mechanical, electrical, chemical, biological, and radioactive hazards, therefore; personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
  • May come in contact with animals/fur in some laboratories; therefore should not have allergies to animals/fur.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • Position will require travel among Aurora sites and therefore there is exposure to road and weather conditions.
  • Must have ability to respond to a 24/7 pager as part of an on call rotation.

Additional Information

  • Candidate will need to familiarize themselves with the literature on Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and inherited CM as the research will primarily be focused on these entities.
  • The candidates are expected to be productive, conduct high-quality clinic research, and disseminate their work in  the form of peer-reviewed publications.
  • The candidate will also be expected to travel and present this research work in major national cardiology meetings; however, they will be reimbursed for registration, travel, and accommodation.
  • The candidate will work at Aurora Cardiac Specialty Center in close collaboration with Dr.'s A. Jamil Tajik, Arshad Jahangir, and Fuad Jan, who will be the mentors of the candidate.
