Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Monday through Friday position with some off hour and weekend work as needed to support the business needs. This position requires on-site days with some work from home days each week.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Works in partnership within interdisciplinary teams and system governance groups to identify opportunities for optimization, technical improvements and integrated workflows. Determines needs based on evidence-based practice, regulatory requirements, quality initiatives, and business critical needs.
  • Develops and maintains partnerships with key service area/region/location leaders to improve outcomes, operations and regulatory preparedness.
  • Participates in review of effectiveness of clinical applications and systems. Recommends new applications design modifications to enhance clinical operations to support successful implementation, administration, and documentation of new and/or existing clinical applications and workflows.
  • Champions established standardized best practice workflows, processes, and clinical content to ensure alignment across all sites/departments to support improved quality and patient safety outcomes. Implements mitigation steps when necessary.
  • Performs advanced troubleshooting, support, and complex issue resolution, when able, independently and in conjunction with information systems and other partnering departments. Escalates more complicated issues as appropriate.
  • Delivers education, training, and support to ensure the successful adoption of clinical systems into patient care processes and workflows utilizing a competency-based approach. Evaluates training effectiveness and recommends modification to training accordingly. Applies knowledge of policies and clinical resources when delivering ongoing education and training.
  • Conducts complex clinical operational/technical workflow analysis and needs assessment to formulate practical outcomes. Recommends solutions aligning information technology with practical business initiatives.
  • Serves as a EHR subject matter expert in all aspects and phases of the clinical information system life cycle.
  • Coordinates and may lead local, departmental, or focused projects and related deliverables.
  • Serves as a resource to colleagues and coaches to develop specific skills.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • None Required.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, or
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy, or
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy, or
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Pathology, or
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Care Administration, or
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Information Technology or related field.

Experience Required:

  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in clinical/healthcare experience and/or clinical workflows with related clinical informatics, clinical education, clinical information systems, and process improvement experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Current licensure or certification in the areas or function supported may be required.
  • Maintains compliance with adopted standards (e.g. DNV, ISO 9001, Magnet, etc.).
  • Maintains demonstrated understanding of clinical practice as it pertains to the integration of clinical information systems and impact on end users (clinicians/providers).
  • Knowledge of clinical application software and network software.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access) or similar products.
  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to project timelines, deliver on project tasks and participate in project outcome discussions.
  • Experience analyzing and translating into design end-user needs/requirements making recommendations on system specification solutions.
  • Experience working with clinical and technical customers, peers and management, demonstrated success in building and fostering positive relationships with physicians, nurses and other clinical team members.
  • Knowledge and adherence to HIPPA (Health Insurance and Accountability Act) regulations related to information security and confidentiality.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Skilled in multi-tasking and can independently prioritize work assignments.
  • Ability to engage leadership in collaborative planning and implementation strategies and resources.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Travel between AAH sites, as well as out of town travel as required.
  • Flexibility with scheduling, including off shifts and weekend is required.
  • May assume on-call responsibilities that require business critical and/or emergent clinical informatics support and/or EHR education involvement.
  • Required to work independently and independently, with remote/virtual work as times, therefore, routinely and consistently available by phone and/or online (MS Teams, Skype, etc.).
  • Lifting restrictions, walking restrictions, patient care specifics.
  • Position requires physical rounding on key stakeholders, ability to walk for extensive periods of time to all physical areas of the hospital, HOD, and/or clinic. Lifting, reaching, and bending throughout the day may also be required as assisting key stakeholders.
  • Exposed to patient care areas, therefore, personal protective equipment most by worn per AAH policy.
