This leader is Responsible for ensuring alignment of Advocate Health Pharmacy workforce development programs across the Midwest Region.  This includes, but not limited to, Youth Apprenticeship, Internship, Pharmacy Technician Training, and Residency programs.  Responsible for design, development, and implementation of training programs to meet future workforce needs of the department.  Manages programs across the region to ensure consistency and adherence to program objectives and standards. Serves as the regional resources to site leaders for training programs. This position will flex to tackle future initiatives from our strategic plan related to our workforce and recruitment strategies. 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for alignment of residency training and the ASHP residency accreditation process, which will allow enhanced quality of residency training across programs by implementing interventions that focus on strengths and process efficiencies.
  • Provides consultation to site program directors to optimize residency programs. Serve a mentor of a program coordinator/future residency program director to provide local residency program daily support. This will allow focus on residency program initiatives across the health-system.
  • Maintains and provides extensive knowledge of the ASHP accreditation process and program design. Supports program leaders in accreditation and reaccreditation of AAH pharmacy residency programs.
  • Manages the design, implementation, and maintenance of AAH pharmacy residency programs. Formalize the process for creation of new residency programs/existing residency program expansion, existing residency programs’ transitions to the revised ASHP standards, accreditation considerations, strategic accreditation visit coordination and planning to reduce surveyor variation.
  • Formalize a Systemwide Residency Advisory Committee (RAC) with program leadership representation from all sites within the health-system, establishing a training philosophy and culture.
  • Centralize and create recruiting efforts with focuses on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, along with mental health and well-being initiatives.
  • Development of Advocate Aurora Health Pharmacy Residency Programs Policies, direct work with emerging programs, coordination with ASHP to align accreditation site surveys, preceptor appointment/re-appointments/development,standardization of evaluation rating definitions, residency completion requirements.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • Pharmacist license issued by the state in which the team member practices.

Education Required:

  • Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy, or
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy.

Experience Required:

  • Typically requires 7 years of experience in Health system leadership including human resources, financial, and clinical services at the coordinator or above level.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities including exceptional prioritization, decision making, delegation, team building, customer service, and conflict resolution.
  • Proven project management skills including project design, implementation and training.
  • Excellent oral and written skills, and the ability to interact effectively with vendors, pharmacy and hospital leaders.
  • Advanced knowledge of the advances in pharmaceutical practices.
  • Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite or similar products and previous experience with pharmacy automation hardware and software.
  • Experience with long range planning and process standardization across multiple sites.
  • Ability to problem solve and proactively address issues, resulting in a positive outcome.
  • Demonstrate ability to lead and direct team members.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must have fine motor manipulation of hands and wrists to use computer keyboard.
  • Must have functional speech, vision, and hearing.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
