Major Responsibilities:

  • Coordination and Administration of all operational aspects to provide effective quality patient care.
    • Plans and directs the administrative and operational functions to maximize patient revenues, attract new patients, and meet regulatory requirements.
    • Prepares and administers the departmental operating and capital budgets to ensure sufficient funds and personnel to accomplish departmental objectives within approved financial guidelines.
    • Monitors the departments’ productivity levels and work functions to ensure proper staff, resource utilization, and efficiencies. Ensures the development of staff within the designated departments
    • Identifies areas for operations efficiency improvement and implements changes.
    • Leads performance improvement, safety, quality, and service initiatives for the assigned areas of responsibility to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and outcomes.
    • Directs reporting managers in the performance of their responsibilities to ensure the highest quality patient care and service is provided
    • Promotes and executes expectations by advancing excellence, including safety, quality, service, and fiscal responsibility.
  • Leads strategic planning, marketing, and new program development efforts for assigned outpatient and inpatient service lines in collaboration with business development. Markets and promotes services in conjunction with other disciplines and departments.
    • Assesses and develops market strategies for service line growth in collaboration with business development.
    • Monitors the impact of services line initiatives on all other hospital services. Notifies other areas impacted by new and expanded services so that planning for those services can be accomplished
    • Develops and maintains relationships with external clients/contacts to promote the department and ensure department growth.
    • Development and ongoing maintenance of collaborative relationships with department managers/directors, physicians, systemwide contacts, and related external contacts to meet program objectives.
    • Acts as a liaison between physicians and other hospital departments to help resolve and troubleshoot problems.
    • Pursue new physician relationships while working closely with the team of clinicians/physicians, technologists, support staff, and site managers to grow referral volumes.
    • Oversees referring physicians, payer, and patient communications.
    • Serves as designated service line representative at the site and system-wide meetings.
  • Development and implementation of short- and long-range plans to ensure continued service line success and consistency with Advocate’s philosophy and strategic plan(s).
    • Develops and implements long and short-range goals and objectives, policies, and procedures to meet the demands for service in keeping with strategic plans.
    • Leads strategic planning, marketing, and new program development efforts, including ongoing collaboration with hospital and corporate management.
    • Plans and implements new /expanded services and business plans. Determines the fiscal feasibility of establishing new or expanded services, including the reimbursement component, service line profitability, staffing needs, staff education, and training needs, equipment needs, availability of services, etc.
    • Monitors the service growth and maintenance and recommends marketing strategies based on observed statistics, market needs, and trends. Works with public relations to develop brochures, pamphlets, marketing tools, etc.
    • Conducts competitor analysis to determine the feasibility of new or existing programs and services market share and growth to keep abreast of trends or changes. Develops and oversees the compilation of statistical information for current and future service line plans.
  • Development and implementation of policies, procedures, and standards which follow Quality Management, DNV, IDPH, CDC, and OSHA guidelines.
    • Facilitates and oversees the Continuous Quality Improvement Program and activities for the various department and programs to assure adherence to corporate standards and regulatory agencies.
    • Monitors changes in Accrediting Organization/governmental standards and changes South Suburban Hospital policy and procedure accordingly.
  • Responsible for professional growth and development
    • Keeps abreast of current standards of care, professional practice, and regulatory requirements.
    • Maintains membership in professional organizations.
      • Maintains required continuing education units to maintain licensure and certifications.

Education/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) and Masters Degree any field OR Bachelors Degree any field with a Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) required
  • RN Licensure in State of Illinois.
  • 5-7 years of experience in healthcare management.
