Primary hours are Monday thru Friday 8 am – 4:30. This position oversees the day to day operations at both Sheboygan and Plymouth Occupational Health Departments

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises the day-to-day activities of the occupational health staff and ensures efficient department operations which include organizing staff schedules and coverage needs and managing issues with equipment. Coordinates all in house and on-site Occupational Health services, utilizing appropriate staffing.
  • Responsible for achieving and maintaining an optimal level of productivity in the clinic and satellites. Explores and implements innovative cost-effective/patient-centered approaches to patient care that supports growth in patient satisfaction and department revenue.
  • Works with sales to promote the Occupational Health program through presentations, plant and department tours, and participation in community events. Partners with other departments to facilitate the growth and development of occupational health services. Works directly with employers to resolve issues and maintain positive relationships.
  • Assists in developing, implementing, and updating policies and procedures to ensure a safe and efficient flow of department activities. Develops documentation around processes for areas of responsibility.
  • Facilitates communication and teamwork between department staff, physicians, and physician office staff to ensure best patient outcomes and efficient work environments. Maintains open lines of communication with all Occupational Health accounts and ensures that specific needs are addressed, and problems solved.
  • Identifies and removes existing barriers to the provision of excellent Occupational Health care delivery. Works closely with the physicians and advanced practice clinicians  to ensure good communication and smooth flow of operations, which affect delivery of medical care.
  • Provides staff training and mentoring, ensuring staff have the required certifications for screenings and are performing competently. Promotes staff development through feedback, goal setting, and continuing education.
  • Works with Occupational Health Leadership to ensure operations meet all local, state, and federal compliance standards, guidelines, and practices. Oversees completion of all required documentation per department policy. Ensures the maintenance of company files, proposals, and service agreements.
  • Identifies, plans, and organizes information system and technology improvements in the department. Oversees and ensures staff is trained, orientated, and competent in use of systems and programs.
  • Provides input into the operating, personnel and budget processes and is accountable for operating within the budget.
  • Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which includes coaching on performance, completes performance reviews and overall staff morale. Recommends hiring, compensation changes, promotions, corrective action decisions, and terminations.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations, and laws applicable to the organization's business.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

License/Registration/Certification Required: None Required.

Education Required: Associate’s degree in Health Care Administration or related field.

Experience Required: Typically requires 3 years of experience in occupational health, which includes experience in providing work direction to staff.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Knowledge of OSHA, State Workers Compensation law, ADA regulations and other governmental health and safety regulations.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including project management, process improvement, decision making, delegation, prioritization, team building, customer service, problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively with all types of individuals within a large organization.
  • Ability to effectively work in a moderate to high stress environment.
  • Intermediate computer skills including experience in using word processing, spreadsheet, and electronic mail.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Exposed to a normal office environment.
  • Must be able to sit frequently, stand and walk occasionally.
  • Must have functional vision, speech, and hearing.
  • May be exposed to blood and/or body fluids, chemicals, or mechanical hazards, will be required to wear personal protective equipment as needed.
  • Position requires travel; therefore, may be exposed to hazardous weather and road conditions.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
