Schedule Details/Additional Information:
The schedule will vary between the hours of 5:30am to 7:00pm. Team members will be required to work every other weekend and every other holiday upon completion of training.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Process diet orders and changes to ensure all patients are receiving the correct diet order for each meal.
    •     1)Anwers phone calls in a timely manner using AIDET techniques and key words to introduce self to patient and acknowledges the patient by name.
    •     2)Obtains and enters patient meal orders into the Vision computer system.
    •     3)Verifies that meal selections are allowed within diet restrictions and makes alternative suggestions when choices do not meet diet guidelines.
    •     4)Prints orders for tray assembly and delivery or schedules a print time.
  • Edits and updates menus according to physicians’ orders and nutritional requirements. Orders nourishments as needed or per request. Prepares tally of menu items or special requests.
    •     1)Processes computer diet orders sent via Care Connection and updates the Vision computer system. Arranges for a tray to be sent as appropriate.
    •     2)Enters supplements, nourishments, allergies, House Trays, Calorie Count, and other information into the computer as ordered.
    •     3)Phones the Patient Care Unit, when needed, to verify unclear diet orders.
    •     4)Prints House menus, reports, etc. at assigned times.
    •     5)Demonstrates a commitment to satisfying customer needs and exceeding customer expectations.
  • Performance of all department activities in accordance with the department’s standards, policies and procedures as well as with Accrediting Organization and local Health Department Regulations.
    •     1)Ability to participate in area meetings, in-services, and training sessions.
    •     2)Observes safety regulations regarding the handling, operation and transportation of food and equipment.
    •     3)Follows the Standards of Behavioral of the hospital.
  • Maintains office supplies including menus, forms and other materials needed for daily operation. Provides tube feeding usage to Food and Nutrition Manager for ordering purposes.
    •     1)Maintains supply of the Room Service paper menus as needed.
    •     2)Provides patient census information to the kitchen.
    •     3)Processes patient information for guest trays.
    •     4)Fills the printer paper drawer and puts in labels at assigned times.
    •     5)Completes assigned data collection for weekly reports.
    •     6)Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performs quality assessment tasks such as test tray delivery, monitor food temperatures, and food quality at the point of service.
    •     1)Accurately prints out a test tray for monitoring purposes.
    •     2)Ensures satisfaction for all patients, families, and associates.
    •     3)Takes and routes or handles messages appropriately.
    •     4)Presents a neat and clean appearance while observing dress code, sanitation, hair covering and personal hygiene policies and procedures
    •     5)Keeps supervisors informed as appropriate.

Education/Experience Required:

  • •High school diploma or equivalent. • 6-12mths of relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • • Excellent customer service, human relations and phone skills. *Ability to operate a computer, phone, and copy machine
  • •None required.

Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • • May require sitting for approximately 70% – 80% of the shift. • May require the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time. •May require some light to medium lifting (up to 20 pounds) •Ability to alternate shifts, weekends and holidays. Requires wearing a headset for the majority of shift.
  • If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
