Mid/PM shifts available. Weekend rotation required.

Major Responsibilities:

Performs all electronic file room duties to insure compliance with HIPAA regulations and provide excellent customer service to patients and physicians.  

          1. Answers telephone pleasantly to accept requests for films, reports and CDs.

          2. Faxes reports promptly to referring physician offices as requested.

          3. Assists Women's Center in obtaining mammogram records from other institutions, collecting mailed CDs, and delivering to Mammography or loading data to system.

          4. Make copies of CDs as requested by both external and internal customers, including ED, OB, Surgery and Radiology and delivering to the proper destination in the hospital while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.

          5. Refers CD issues to IS department for quick resolution.

          6. Collects and responds to legal subpeonas requesting patient records. Creates system to track records and works with Risk Management to sequester patient records. Collects fees for legal work and distributes to finance department for deposit.

Greets patients and may assist with IV starts on Outpatient CT procedures if properly trained.  

          1. Promptly greet patients prior to their appointment time.

          2. Communicate and explain CT experience to the patient.

          3. Start patients IV prior to testing.

Assistance to patients. Includes monitoring stat outpatient reports for final status, calling report to physician, and discharging outpatient as appropriate.  

          1. Tech aide Stocks all linens in dressing rooms. Provides light housekeeping on rooms including discarding used linens, straigtening chairs, sorting magazines and discarding trash to keep rooms presentable at all times.

Maintains department inventory levels.  

          1. Establishes par levels, and maintains office supplies as needed.

          2. Gives supervisor list of needed supplies to order.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

CPR certified within 30 days of hire

Education/Experience Required:

High school graduate
1 year related experience
Prefer 1-2 years of phlebotomy experience and/or trained to start IVs.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Basic knowledge of filing and data entry

Type 20 wpm preferred

Good interpersonal skills

Good knowledge of telephone, and paging functions. Demonstrates good working knowledge of computer systems utilized on unit by receiving, sending, and data entry of information pertaining to the radiology department.

Some knowledge of Radiology functions.

Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to lift and or move patients.
Ability to work under time constraints in a fast paced environment.
Ability to work rotating shifts any day of the week.
May be exposed to hazardous materials and life threatening diseases.
May be required to have direct patient care in the form of transporting patients.
Ability to lift and assist with the movement of heavy patients and or equipment.
