Major Responsibilities:

  • Leads projects through planning, design and remodeling relating to maintaining and updating interior finishes. Evaluates interior spaces for compliant with Advocate Aurora Interiors finishes standards for public, patient, and staff space.
  • Ensures that renovation projects are completed in compliance with local, state, and regulatory guidelines for healthcare facilities. Accompanies state and local officials on inspection tours and follows up on recommendations and instructions of inspectors. Ensures code compliance with Accrediting Organizations for all interior projects and renovations.
  • Interacts with site leadership and customers regarding interior finishes and upgrades and the annual schedule of interiors improvements for the site, and interacts/collaborates with Construction Project Manager and Space Management personnel.
  • Maintains documentation, including approvals, meeting minutes, and reports for project files and ensures that project close-out documents and lien waivers, when outside contractors are used, are received by team prior to final payment.
  • Initiates requests for necessary adjustments or troubleshooting of problems requiring attention throughout the building and provides follow-up maintenance, repairs and preventative maintenance performed on equipment.
  • Supervises and inspects progress of Interior Coordinator (s) and trade contractors, as related to project schedule and standards. Ensures that the completion of work and repairs are timely and in accordance with the highest standards of workmanship and in accordance with applicable building, fire safety, OSHA, Accrediting Organizations and building codes; as well as, local, state, and regulatory guidelines for healthcare facilities. Accompany with local officials on inspection tours and follows up recommendations and instructions of inspectors.
  • Assures work of regional interior team and outside contractor is done in compliance with Advocate Aurora Standards, Finance Policies, regulatory and governmental standards. Ensures subordinates develop safe work habits and wear proper protective equipment when required. Advises and guides subordinates on matters related to facilities. Ensures department personnel receive required training and demonstrate required competency for compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Collaborate with site Leadership on annual project plans and attend planning meetings with user groups, ensuring that team efforts meet their needs and expectations. Interface with Facilities, Construction, IS, EVS, and contract service providers to ensure that interiors renovations and improvements projects are completed on schedule and with minimal disruption to patients, visitors, associates, and physicians.
  • Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.
  • Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization’s Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization’s business.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • None Required.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Building & Construction, or
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, or
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or related field.

Experience Required:

  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in construction or interior design project management with minimum of 3-4 years of experience in hospital or health care field. Typically requires 3 years of management experience in managing budgets and direct reports.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge of OSHA codes and building codes.
  • Basic skills in computer word processing, scheduling, and accounting spreadsheets.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical data
  • Excellent communication skills

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • Exposed to a normal office environment.
