Responsible for ensuring that our organization's clinical staff and end users across the enterprise are proficient in using our electronic health record and other technology solutions used in the clinical care of our patients. This leader is responsible for driving innovative and efficient educational programs across the enterprise that are used to onboard new clinical users, as well as promote ongoing efficiency and competency in all clinical systems.  This role is pivotal in elevating Advocate Health as the leader in Technology Education and Training.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leadership and Management: Oversee the administrative functions of the Enterprise Informatics Training team, develop work plans, and supervise leaders and team activities.
  • Training Delivery: Lead the delivery of training across all regions, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy and consistency in content and quality.
  • Collaboration and Advisory: Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, foster collaboration among training, clinical informatics and application teams, and support clinical and operational learning initiatives.  Maintain productive relationships with key operational stakeholders. 
  • Change Leadership: Serve as a change agent, developing and implementing informatics strategies to enhance patient care and professional practice. 
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with clinical and IT leadership, solicit and incorporate stakeholder feedback, and align training with organizational goals.
  • Innovation and Technology: Stay informed about emerging healthcare technologies, integrate new technologies into training, and develop programs that efficiently utilize human capital.
  • Strategic Development: Create and execute a comprehensive training strategy for clinical staff, ensuring proficiency with EHR and other patient care technologies.  Solicit feedback from key stakeholders to maintain continuous improvement with training programs. 
  • Governance and Partnerships: Participate in governance activities, maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, and evaluate emerging technologies that support organizational goals.
  • Professional Development and Representation: Provide leadership and guidance, mentor informatics and training professionals, and represent the organization in industry forums and conferences
  • Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.
  • Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations, and laws applicable to the organization's business.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Level of Education:  Master’s Degree in Education, Organizational Development, Nursing, IT, Health Informatics or Health Care Administration

Years of Experience:  Minimum of 10 years’ experience in IT Adult learning and organizational development with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

  • Strong presentation skills and ability to present complex clinical systems technology issues in a clear, concise and understandable manner.  Understanding and experience with service delivery and process improvement methodologies.
  • Proven track record of impactful informatics projects and thought leadership.
  • Passion for advancing healthcare through technology and data-drive insights.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple teams and complex business relationships. 
  • Demonstrated success in engaging clinical partners in building collaborative solutions.
  • Knowledge of integrated systems and workflows in an integrated healthcare delivery setting.
  • Excellent quantitative analysis skills demonstrated experience managing complex budgets and employee staffing plans.
  • Strategic thinker able to understand the business direction and goals and their potential implementations for the information technology systems required to support them.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects, influence stakeholders and drive change.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles.
  • Strong analytical skills and a passion for leveraging technology to improve healthcare.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • Exposed to a normal office environment.
  • Primarily remote with periodic requirement to be on site in any region.
