1st ShiftOn Call Rotation RequiredPlease note you would be part of our south WI team that has 28 locations throughout Racine, Kenosha, Franklin, Oak Creek, Caledonia, and a few locations in Gurnee, IL. You will have a company vehicle during work, uniform, and tools provided by Aurora.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Maintains, tests, repairs and modifies heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration and related temperature controls and equipment throughout the facility.
  • Operates and maintains automated building and equipment control systems. Checks, repairs, and/or replaces valves, motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring, fans, pumps, compressors, condensers, coils, pipes, and other functional components of the system.
  • Operates, monitors, and performs preventive maintenance on boilers and auxiliaries. Maintains specified pressures and temperatures, and inspects the equipment for malfunctions and makes adjustments or repairs.
  • Recommends modifications, replacements, repairs and procedures. Maintains an inventory of supplies and initiates requests for repair parts and service.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance according to established schedules. Maintains preventive maintenance records and equipment repair files in order to comply with local, state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Assists in construction, remodeling and maintenance projects. Provides direction to outside contractors on critical mechanical and electrical equipment and systems.
  • Conducts and supervises airflow and balancing tests required for accreditation reports and for the infection control program.
  • Computes job costs, orders parts, equipment, supplies, and materials as needed as well as makes recommendations for modifications, replacements, repairs and procedures.
  • Acts as a resource for the department and for other craftsmen. Provides direction on more complex, technical issues that may require more complicated troubleshooting. Advises and updates management, and other staff on procedural changes.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification issued by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) needs to be obtained within 120 days, and
  • A valid drivers license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles.

Education Required:

  • Associate's Degree in HVAC May consider less education and experience

Experience Required:

  • Typically requires 2 years of experience in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and cooling (HVAC) and refrigeration.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Current driving record that meets Aurora fleet safety standards.
  • Proficient with HVAC equipment including air balancing tools, temperature control calibration tools, power and hand tools and brazing and welding equipment.
  • Current knowledge of applicable codes and regulations pertaining to equipment and operations.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with various departments in order to coordinate repairs.
  • Knowledge of computer based, specialized control systems and their programming.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently make sound decisions regarding problems or operational issues.
  • Ability to work independently.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, crawl, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to:
  • lift up to 15 lbs. from floor to overhead.
  • lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to chest-level.
  • lift and carry up to 50 lbs. at waist height a reasonable distance.
  • Must be able to:
  • push/pull with 50 lbs. of force.
  • Exposure to electrical and mechanical hazards and therefore knowledge of safety precautions.
  • Possible exposure to radioactivity and therefore ability to wear protective clothing as necessary.
  • Position requires travel. May be exposed to road/weather hazards.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
