The Vice President of Health Equity Innovation, Access & Quality will serve alongside senior health equity, clinical, quality and other leadership, designing and implementing the clinical health equity strategy with a focus on 3 key areas:

  • Health equity focused clinical innovation– testing and learning, co-creating, implementing and scaling new models of care delivery and advanced technology solutions that address health disparities
  • Health equity focused clinical access– overseeing and designing programs and solutions that create and expand equitable access to care
  • Health equity focused clinical quality– leveraging analytics and population/patient level intelligence to co-design and test clinical and practice interventions that improve quality of care to underserved populations while also eliminating disparities in clinical outcomes

The Advocate National Center for Health Equity (ANCHE) will harness the full resources of Advocate Health, one of the largest nonprofit health systems in the United States, to address the root causes of health disparities by: co-creating transformative equity-based interventions with clinicians; developing, disseminating, and supporting the implementation of tools and best practices that are grounded in clinical evidence and positioned to improve health equity in communities that Advocate Health serves; and partnering with internal and external stakeholders to advance Advocate Health’s mission to provide equitable health and health care for all.

The VP will work alongside senior clinical leadership to develop a robust set of equitable care interventions and programs, supported by a strong research and analytics team at ANCHE, create clinical leader decision support services and playbooks for health equity programs, and lead in the execution of Advocate Health enterprise-wide and market level health equity performance goals and quality improvement initiatives. They will work closely with and collaborate with Advocate Health enterprise and regional clinical, quality and patient safety teams as well as teams focused on innovation and patient access to ensure alignment.

Accountabilities

  • Lead ANCHE’s mission to ensure equitable care and outcomes for patients as a centralized function and in partnership with enterprise systems across Advocate Health clinical service lines, administration, information technology, and research functions.
  • Establish ANCHE as the single source of truth within Advocate Health for current and emerging best and promising practices related to clinical interventions research and related health equity-focused interventions that can reduce health disparities.
  • Provide strategic guidance and research-informed insights to market-based and service line leaders as well as Advocate Health executives on best practices and playbooks to achieve equitable care and reducing health and health care disparities.
  • Collaborate with Advocate Health’s clinical, quality and patient safety leadership and committees to align on health equity focused clinical quality and outcomes processes.
  • Align ANCHE efforts in clinical areas with the Quintuple Aim or Quadruple Aim/Health Equity bullseye goals.
  • Partner with ANCHE and Community and Social Impact (CSI) senior leaders to assure promising health equity-focused clinical interventions inform ANCHE’s social impact, community health, community investment and strategic community partnership strategies.
  • Engage and activate enterprise leadership to ensure resource sharing, alignment, integration, standardization and ensure efficiencies of scale and sustainability of equitable care and successful outcomes.
  • Coordinate ANCHE’s health equity data collection and clinical leader decision support infrastructure, including responsibilities for supporting ANCHE’s health equity analytics infrastructure with necessary IT workflows and clinical data collection.
  • Collaborate with ANCHE’s data analytics team to disseminate data that provides actionable insights that will empower the system or clinical care team to deliver equitable care and improve health outcomes.
  • In partnership with Advocate Health’s shared services administrative team, devise internal and external communication strategies to socialize the value and impact of ANCHE equitable care research and clinical findings.
  • In alignment with ANCHE’s Social Impact team and CSI, devise and deploy external advocacy strategies to disseminate information on best practices in clinical health equity research and program interventions and facilitate collaborations both within Advocate Health and beyond health system walls with external stakeholders who can support and extend impact.
  • Remain abreast of emerging and advanced technologies (AI, apps, wearables, remote patient monitoring, etc.) and their impact on equity informed strategies; and co-create a learning agenda to develop or integrate best practices along with Advocate Health innovation and strategy partners.
  • Provide thought leadership and support for ANCHE’s Clinical Innovation, Access and Quality priority focus areas and provide strategic vision for collective impact. Work with other teams in CSI, including government affairs, for translation of clinical success into policy changes.

Requirements

Education

  • MD/DO degree

Certification / License

  • Certificate in Corporate Social Responsibility or Corporate Citizenship preferred.

Work Experience

  • Clinical Practice experience within an academic health system and research environment is preferred.
  • Formal training in an applied/technical field, such as public health, epidemiology, health services research, quality improvement, data analytics or health informatics highly desired.
  • 5+ years’ experience providing direct clinical care and working in a clinical environment (academic medical center, health system, community health practice preferred)
  • Experience leading or implementing health equity focused clinical and quality programs is preferred

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to successfully establish and lead a team charged with creating transformative interventions and technologies that will advance equitable health and health care for all.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions. Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job. Exposed to a normal office environment.
