Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Schedule is flexible and may vary depending on EMS needs.
Major Responsibilities:
Assists in the assurance of safe practice and patient care delivery in the EMSS. Attends meetings/educational offerings to assure current practice and demonstrate a commitment to the pursuit of education. Keeps abreast of current EMS trends and research.
Supervision and coordination of the operational aspects of the EMSS. Assists in facilitating maintenance and functionality of the telemetry communication device. Assists in the management of replacing medical supplies and medication exchange.
Coordinates the development and distribution of continuing education for the EMSS providers (EMD, EMR, EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, ECRN, and additional entities as needed).
Participates in the Emergency Communication Registered Nurse (ECRN) Course and maintains records of current ECRNs.
Assists to implement and maintain quality improvement programs.
Provides Administrative Support and assistance to the EMS Manager/EMS Coordinator and/or EMS Medical Director in various operational aspects. Participates in EMS committees as a representative of the department as needed. Maintains effective communication and working relationships with EMS crews and local Fire Chiefs/Ambulance Executives/EMS Coordinators.
Participates in the inspection of system ambulances/vehicles to maintain compliance with state and system guidelines.
Supports and assists the EMS training programs affiliated with the Resource Hospital.
Participates in EMS system disaster preparedness activities at the hospital, local and state level when applicable.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
Nurse, Registered (RN)
BLS Provider;
ACLS and PALS Provider;
TNS, TNCC, PHTLS or ITLS Provider.
ECRN preferred;
EMS Lead Instructor certification preferred.
Education Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Experience Required:
3-5 year’s experience as an Emergency Department or Critical Care Registered Nurse; EMS/Field experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work independently.
Competent in using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint and other basic computer skills.
Ability to use AV equipment.
Ability to interpret and apply EMS laws (preferred).
Attends approved educational events to keep abreast of new developments and techniques in the field of EMS.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Associate must be available for on-call, 24/7.
May need to work occasional evenings, nights, weekends or holidays depending on potential EMS activities that may occur.
Must be physically able to enter and exit prehospital vehicles (step up/down into vehicle) and ride in an ambulance.
Must have car and ability to travel around the Chicagoland area independently.
Able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs is required.
