Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Work Shift: Monday-Friday shift from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM.On-call Rotations: Leaders are required to be available outside of their regular work hours to respond to emergencies or urgent situations. These rotations are typically scheduled in advance and may involve being on call for a certain number of hours or days each week or month.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assumes responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the department including providing work direction, expertise, and guidance to staff. Provides oversight on all aspects of the courier/dispatch process ensuring patient specimens are picked up timely, transported appropriately, and delivered to the various sites for patient testing.
- Maintains financial accountability within the department by managing department assets, equipment, supplies and staff scheduling, and vendors. Determines organizational /staffing requirements and schedules courier services to support patient care testing needs. Adjusts schedules to meet workflow requirements and to improve service effectiveness. Evaluates productivity and develops and implements process improvement plans while reducing costs.
- Coordinates orientation, training, and competency for staff. Assists the director in the development, implementation, and improvement of laboratory logistics policies, procedures, and processes. Ensures compliance with current policies, procedures, and standardization and/or consolidation decisions.
- Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which includes coaching on performance, completes performance reviews and overall staff morale, recommends hiring, compensation changes, promotions, corrective action decisions, and terminations. Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of staff supervised, comply with the policies, regulations, and laws applicable to the organization's business.
- Serves as a technical resource for internal / external customers on logistics workflows. Ensures quality measures, regulatory, accreditation, compliance and competency standards are met for logistics services. Ensure effective and timely implementation of all logistics daily operational goals for courier and dispatch activities. Develop and initiate monthly reports having required project or system timelines and productivity measurements.
- Conducts staff meetings and addresses employee concerns and suggestions and customer service issues. Participates in appropriate projects, committees, and technical advisory teams. Executes any assigned tasks on time and comprehensively.
- Maintains current knowledge of the integrated computer systems as they relate to logistics courier and dispatch operations. Adjusts routes as needed and provides input to the director on optimal route design, resource allocation, and equipment that staff needs to continually improve and adjust to changing customer needs.
- May perform any of the following: courier pickups or route coverage, dispatch coverage, and customer visits as needed.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
License/Registration/Certification Required: Valid Driver’s License
Education Required: Associate degree in Business or related field (or equivalent knowledge)
Experience Required: Typically requires 3 years of leadership experience in logistics, distribution or materials management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Demonstrates ability to direct staff on department daily activities
- Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and leadership
- Ability to function well under pressure and conditions of frequent interruption
- Experience and working knowledge of logistics operations and computer systems
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) or similar products
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Demonstrates a willingness to work a flexible schedule, which may include working an alternative site or shift assignment
- Maintaining a valid driver’s license in good standing per AAH’s insurance underwriters’ eligibility guidelines
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Ability to work flexible hours based on department expectations for a 24/7/365 operation
- Must be able to drive in inclement weather and exposed to adverse road conditions
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, and walk the majority of the workday
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform job functions
- Frequently lifts 20lbs. Occasionally lifts up to 50lbs.
- May be exposed to biological and/or chemical agents
