Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Generally 1st shift hours (8:30 AM – 5 PM central time; start/end time flexible) M-F, 8 hrs/day, occasional early morning, evening and weekend work (e.g., meetings, special projects). This is a remote position with occasional travel (conferences, retreats, etc).
- Develops comprehensive and in-depth statistical analysis plans for protocols and proposed grant applications.
- Leads consultations on complex projects and conducts analyses using sophisticated statistical methods for the analysis and interpretation of large and complex data sets. Analyzes and interprets findings to identify statistically significant and practically relevant implications, including any statistical limitations.
- Provides expert presentations on methods, models, and analyses to research, clinical and leadership audiences. Creates concise summaries of key conclusions and translates sophisticated statistical analyses into understandable conclusions and recommendations.
- Manages large and highly complex databases and coordinates complex data requests with the research analytics team.
- Provides expert, in-depth consultation to scientists, investigators, and other internal and external collaborators regarding statistical theories, techniques, and methods to gather, analyze, interpret, and/or report data.
- Leads and collaborates with internal and external project teams to achieve study objectives, deliver results on time, and ensure the quality of deliverables.
- Actively contributes to and/or leads AARI and AAH committees, initiatives, high profile projects, grant submissions, presentations and publications.
- Serves as a subject matter expert, lead resource and mentor for other team members. Mentors team members to improve statistical skills, depth of analyses, results interpretation and communication of findings.
- Significantly contributes to and may lead the dissemination of findings through scientific abstracts, presentations, and publications. Leads statistical content generation and provides statistical review of manuscripts submitted for publication.
- Considers the strategic objectives of Advocate Aurora Health while leading the application of statistical methods.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- None Required.
Education Required:
- Master’s Degree in Mathematics or related field, or
- Master’s Degree in Public Health or related field, or
- Master’s Degree in Biostatistics or related field.
Experience Required:
- Typically requires 7 years of experience in leading projects and teams in statistics or biostatistics in academic, industry, or health care settings. Established track record of publications and leading the biostatistical component of complex studies. Ability to work independently and collaboratively on complex tasks with minimal supervision with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Expert in classical and more complex statistical methods.
- Expert with statistical software (R, SAS, STATA, or SPSS).
- Expert in data management, cleaning, and analysis of large datasets.
- Expert in providing consultations with scientists and investigators.
- Proficient with MS-Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and relational databases (e.g., REDCap)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively on complex tasks with minimal supervision with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative working relationships and work well in a team environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to multi-task under pressure, meet deadlines and work with high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate analytic findings in internal and external meetings/conferences and publications. Established track record of contributing to publications and leading the biostatistical component of complex studies.
- Experience with electronic health records and other data collection databases.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Will generally be exposed to rapid-pace and complex health care environment.
- Remote work with in-person presence (e.g., site visits, recruitment activities, meetings) as needed.
- This position may require ability to drive and/or travel to work related meetings/functions and thus is exposed to road, weather, and normal travel hazards.
