Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Monday thru Friday 0900-1730 with Rotating Saturday's PRN
Participates in the preparation of the OR suite for admission of patients, under the supervision of the Anesthesia Nurse Coordinator or anesthesiologist or designee.
1)Sets up anesthesia equipment/supplies prior to patient admission to the Surgical Suite (replaces circuit, arranges top on anesthesia cart in orderly manner, restocks supplies).
2)Assists with attaching patient to required non-invasive monitors – SpO2, B/P, EKG, etc.
3)Assists anesthesiologist with the insertion of invasive lines, arterial, CVP.
4)Assists anesthesiologist with intubation.
5)Assists in meeting special needs for various age groups of patients.
Responsible for maintaining adequate supplies, equipment needed for the care of the anesthesia patient:
1)provides supplies/equipment to each anesthesia area – MOR, OB, ASC and elsewhere as needed.
2)maintains a clean environment.
3)assists in emergency situations.
4)assists in maintaining adequate stock levels
5)assists with monitoring supply usage to decrease waste
6)checks and cleans laryngeal blades and handles
7)prepares IV tubing for insertion
8)prepares blood warmers for use
9)prepares arterial line tubing for insertion
10)follows procedures regarding use of Autoclave and Steris demonstrates awareness of sterile field when in an OR suite
Patient care support functions:
1)maintains patient confidentiality at all times
2)follows the policies and procedures of infection control by demonstrating knowledge of sterile and aseptic techniques
3)follows procedure for proper disposal of contaminated materials

Education/Experience Required:
high school diploma or equivalent six months – one year experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
