MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and maintains data schema for the data warehouse and data marts required to support and maintain data, process models, and data marts.
- Develops and maintains a data model and dictionary defining the key data elements that will be abstracted from the production systems to support both ad hoc and strategic reporting. Collaborates with data warehouse teams to execute against these designs.
- Partners with the information technology database teams to establish agreed data feeds and refresh rates for this data.
- In collaboration with information technology security and the Advocate Health Compliance group, establishes and implements data security and privacy rules for the data warehouse including the use of both identifiable and de-identified patient data.
- Provides data modeling support to the data warehouse teams developing additional views and data marts as needed.
- Provides consulting support to information technology and business staff on the data requirements and quality assurance required to support both internal and external reporting.
- Works with the database teams to optimize database performance.
- Supports the strategic move to an expanded use of user driven ad hoc query and reporting.
- Ensures the implementation of required auditing of access to Personal Health Information and other HIPAA requirements.
- Establishes data retention requirements for the data warehouse and implements purge processes to remove expired data.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Level of Education: Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field.
Years of Experience: 7 years in information technology working as a database administrator or data analyst responsible for large, complex mission critical database environments in a large complex information technology environment.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)
- Detailed technical understanding of database architecture and design as applied to large complex mission critical database environments.
- Proven project management experience. Delivery focused and tenacious.

- Detailed oriented with the ability to handle project complexity and detail. Ability to identify key elements and can define detailed project work-break-down structures and incorporate them into project plans.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
