Major Responsibilities:
Supervises staff and operations of clinic practices integrated into the Creticos Cancer Center; supervises clinical navigation programs of the IMMC Cancer Institute.
1)Collaborates with the Medical Director and nursing staff to jointly plan patient care, develop education opportunities for staff and resolve interdisciplinary conflicts. Collaborates with other departments within the Cancer Center to advance our KRAs and the oncology program at large.

2)Establishes staffing requirements and plans for appropriate utilization of human resources.

3)Responsible for local configuration, education, and troubleshooting needs related to our electronic medical record to assure integrity of clinical data and optimal workflow for patient safety. Works with Oncology Services PMO (Clinical Informatics), Field Services I.S., and Corporate I.S. to ensure minimal or no disruptions in the EMR will affect clinical care of our patients. Acts as EMR superuser for Mosaiq and other applications used by clinical staff.

4)Annually reviews and approves all departmental standards of care, policies, procedures, and protocols. Participates in relevant hospital, AMG and systemwide committees and councils to revise policies and procedures as necessary.

5)Establishes in partnership with the Medical Director, performance metrics and any action plans related to those outcomes.

6)Ensures and continually monitors compliance with all regulatory standards (ie: ACOS, ONS, Federal, state, city, Accrediting Organization, IDPA) and all hospital policies and procedures at the Family Practice Center.

7)Leads and facilitates daily safety huddles.

8)Serves as outpatient clinical leader representative for Advocate system wide councils, e.g. Oncology Services Council. Travel required between Advocate sites and Advocate corporate offices. Serves as clinical nurse leader for the Creticos Cancer Center for Magnet activities and other nursing related activities.

9)Actively participates in Cancer Committee activities and systemwide councils/committees to advance our clinical practices and the overall cancer program of AIMMC.

10)Ensures all equipment in clinical areas are in optimal working conditions and works with relevant departments such as Clinical Engineering to ensure safe delivery of patient care.

Promote patient satisfaction and assist the center in achieving KRAs for the Press Ganey patient satisfaction by providing effective leadership and management.
1)Ensures processes are in place to maximize patient satisfaction scores per the Press Ganey surveys to assure annual goals are met for the Creticos Cancer Center.

2)Consistently communicates with staff regarding gaps in performance which affect patient satisfaction.

3)Leads patient satisfaction activities for department.

4)Manages service recovery for the multidisciplinary clinics of the Creticos Cancer Center up to and including meetings with Guest Relations and other pertinent hospital departments.

5)Assists Director and Cancer Center leadership in meeting KRAs for patient satisfaction.

Promotes Associate Engagement and Physician Engagement by leading a teamwork environment.
1)Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals to assure delivery of quality care.

2)Collaborates with peers in the integration of clinical standards to meet patient and center needs.

3)Meets regularly with Medical Director or designee to assure optimal clinic operations.

4)Reviews Associate and Physician Satisfaction surveys with Manager and assists with action plans as needed.

5)Collaborates with Pharmacy and Lab services within the scope of services required for patient care at the Creticos Cancer Center and resolves issues with those department autonomously.

6)Accessible 24 hours for staffing issues that may arise and need troubleshooting.

Promotes the KRAs for Funding our Future by ensuring cost effectiveness related to staffing, compliance of charge entry standards, and other outlined accountabilities.
1)Assists and monitors budgets (supplies, equipment, personnel). Responsible for budget management and performance and fiscal oversight of all areas of responsibility.

2)Assists Director in preparation of annual operational budgets.

3)Assists in preparation of new and expanding program proposals with cost/budget implications.

4)Responsible for working with Revenue Cycle Supervisor and physicans to reconcile claim denials and maximize payments for services.

5)Assists in fundraising opportunities such as donor events, grants proposal preparation, etc. to assure philanthropic support continues for the Creticos Cancer Center.

Promotes growth by leading a team of efficient, service oriented staff.
1)Assists the Director in acquisition of equipment for enhancement of services.

2)Keeps abreast of current standards for oncology care and brings forward industry innovations to advance the oncology program of AIMMC and Advocate at large.

3)Assists with marketing efforts including maintenance of the website, participation in community events, and overall promotion of Cancer Center services to the community.

4)Stays abreast of oncology advances through literature, professional networking, and educational avenues.

Licensure:
Nurse, Registered (RN)

Education/Experience Required:
Effective January 1, 2012: • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) • Board Certification by 12/31/2015 or within two years of hire – 3 years nursing experience focused in oncology preferred -2 years in nursing leadership experience preferred. Education requirements if hired into this position prior to January 1, 2012: -BSN preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

-Illinois RN License required -OCN preferred -Chemotherapy Provider Certification Preferred -BLS required

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to work within a rapidly changing environment Ability to move patients, lifting 30 lbs or more may be required Ability to work collaboratively with internal/external customers Ability to prioritize and respond to multiple, simultaneous requests May be exposed to hazardous materials and life-threatening diseases 24-hour accountability for patient care issues Ability to transport objects from one location to another This position needs to recognize needs and behaviors of specific age groups of patients treated
If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
