Major Responsibilities:
Observes and assists the pharmacy department to gain knowledge of the pharmacy technician role to determine career path options while in high school.
Learns and demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with other team members and patients.
Learns and demonstrates competency in dispensing and delivery of medications. This includes developing competence in the department’s use of information systems, technology, and automation used for dispensing and storage of medications.
Learns and demonstrates competency in prescription processing, including obtaining required patient information, data entry, record keeping, insurance verification and label generation.
Learns and demonstrates compliance of legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards. This includes but is not limited to USP requirements, HIPAA, and controlled substance procedures.
Learns and participates in non-sterile and sterile compounding preparation in accordance with USP guidelines.
Learns and demonstrates competency in department safety strategies related to error prevention.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required:
If working in WI: Registered as a Pharmacy Technician through Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services, application must be submitted prior to start date.
If working in IL: Registered as a Pharmacy Technician through Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, application must be submitted prior to start date with license obtained within 60 days of date of submission.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders throughout the work day
Lifts, carries and/or pushes/pulls various items (bags, boxes, carts, etc.) while utilizing proper technique
Must be able to:
Lift up to 35 lbs from floor to chest-level
Lift and carry up to 3 lbs at waist height a reasonable distance
Must be able to:
Push/pull with 30 lbs of force
May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
