Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Workdays: Monday to FridayWork Hours: 8 HoursTypical Shift: Day Shift/1st ShiftOn-Call: Approximately 3-4 times/year at weekly intervalOccasional 2nd or 3rd Shift Hours: As needed for after hour work/upgrades
- Responsible for the daily operations of PACS equipment including digital image data transfer, radiology information system validation, exceptions handlings, archiving, auto-routing, prefetching and other related activities.
- Plans and coordinates all technical aspects of the PACS network and equipment in regard to services, programs, and evaluation of programs, and communicates changes in the PACS operation to Medical Staff and department staff.
- Serves as a technical resource by responding to system inquires, troubleshooting problems, and alerting users when downtime, service bulletins, performance changes and upgrades occur.
- Develops and implements training programs for all staff (technical staff, medical staff, radiologists, etc.) using PACS and related applications.
- Works with the Information Services staff to provide adequate security, backup, recovery and restart procedures and instructions. Assigns and monitors access to PACS for all users and adheres to organizational security standards.
- Works in conjunction with Information Services to install system upgrades and resolve problems, and participates in testing of PACS programs and software changes in any of the systems that interface with PACS.
- Develops, implements and maintains PACS policies and procedures.
- Reviews feedback from system users, compiles and analyzes support data, and recommends changes as appropriate.
- Ensures that all quality assurance measures are met and makes adjustments to maintain quality standards throughout the department and medical center.
- Recommends equipment modification, new equipment and is responsible for existing equipment and contractual services as needed.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- None Required.
Education Required:
- Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Technology or related field.
Experience Required:
- Typically requires 5 years of experience in imaging services, PACS administration and/or other imaging technology.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Exceptional understanding of information systems and how they support imaging technology.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Must sit up to 50 percent of the workday.
- Must lift up to 10 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Must be able to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
- May be exposed to hazardous material and must wear protective clothing as required.
