Major Responsibilities
- Strategic Management and Leadership: Provide strategic leadership and guidance across the organization, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and alignment of nursing informatics with organizational goals. Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and a role model for the Advocate Health culture. Provide guidance for the development and implementation of digital healthcare solutions that will transform nursing, allied health professionals (RT and therapies) and patient care practices. Collaborate with executive leadership to align innovation initiatives with the organization's strategic goals and objectives.
- Quality: Partner in a highly matrixed environment across the enterprise to develop and implement new quality and performance improvement programs, system integrations and clinical policies and standards that support and advance the provision of evidence-based, patient-centered care. Oversee the development and maintenance of quality assurance standards and practices to ensure patient safety and compliance with regulations.
- Clinical Workflow Optimization: Evaluate and lead the design and standardization of technology-enabled process changes to enhance patient safety, care quality, and operational efficiency.
- Innovation and Technology Advancement: Identify and implement innovative solutions that enhance patient care and care team satisfaction. Evaluate emerging technologies and strategize with vendors to meet organizational needs. Provide guidance for the development and implementation of digital healthcare solutions that will transform nursing, allied health professionals (RT and therapies) and patient care practices. Collaborate with executive leadership to align innovation initiatives with the organization's strategic goals and objectives. Lead efforts to incorporate cutting-edge informatics solutions into our healthcare ecosystem, optimizing data management, analytics, and decision support systems. Ensure seamless integration of digital tools and technologies across nursing and clinical operations.
- Adoption and Change Management: Combines nursing science and practice with informatics concepts and change management to effectively address the information and knowledge needs of clinicians and patients to promote safe, effective, and efficient use of clinical systems in practice.
- Nursing Excellence: Champion the advancement of nursing excellence through innovative programs, evidence-based practice, and education. Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development among nursing staff. Drive digital transformation by identifying, piloting, and implementing healthcare technologies that improve patient outcomes, streamline operations, and enhance the patient experience.
- Budget: Manage organizational budget for nursing innovation, informatics, and digital healthcare initiatives, ensuring responsible resource allocation and cost-effectiveness.
Minimum Job Requirements
Education
Master’s Degree (MSN, MBA, MHA, etc.) Required
Certification / License
Certificate or advanced education in Nursing Informatics Preferred
Active registered nurse (RN) license
American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) board certification or Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) certification
Work Experience
- Three to five years of direct-patient-care nursing experience
- Minimum of ten years of progressive experience in healthcare information technology including healthcare leadership in the use and development of electronic health records, health data and analytics, standard practice guidelines, and metrics to drive change
- AI and Emerging Technology Experience Preferred
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Advanced leadership skills and business orientation with a working understanding of Clinical workflow and technology requirements in all healthcare arenas (e.g. inpatient, office, home)
- Understanding of major trends in healthcare and emerging clinical technologies serving our communities
- Proven success in implementing and expanding innovative digital healthcare solutions and informatics in healthcare setting.
- Strong understanding of clinical practice and patient care delivery
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to navigate complex, multidisciplinary environments and adapt to rapidly changing healthcare technologies.
- A commitment to patient-centered care and continuous quality improvement.
- Aptitude to translate vision into action and an established track record of applied nursing informatics.
