Join the Enterprise Operational Intelligence team at Advocate Health as an IT Data Solutions Systems Administrator, where you’ll maintain and optimize a reliable, up-to-date analytics infrastructure powering critical business decisions. You’ll work hands-on with industry-standard tools like Epic Cogito, PowerBI, and SAP Business Objects, supporting upgrades, managing configuration, and provisioning security, providing a dependable platform that enables a large team of analytics developers and thousands of users. Major Responsibilities:

  • Independently configure, test, monitor, and maintain analytical and operational BI platforms, systems, and servers to meet operational needs. 
  • Monitor analytical and operational BI tools and systems to ensure optimal performance.  
  • Monitor the usage of these systems to ensure that content created by developers adheres to policies, standards, and best practices. Train and educate analysts and end users on the usage of BI/reporting tools including managing upgrades/changes in all phases. Create and maintain job aids that support proper usage of BI/Reporting tools. 
  • Independently provide support for BI/reporting systems, including maintenance, upgrades, security changes, testing, license provisioning, issue resolution, participating in the on-call pool and supporting project go-lives. 
  • Apply security changes to BI/reporting systems, provisioning end user and developer access in accordance with organizational policy. Participate in efforts to consolidate and rationalize security configuration to ensure long-term sustainability, simplicity, and adherence to best practices. 
  • Manage the lifecycle of analytics content created on the platforms and systems, auditing the creation of new content to avoid duplication, monitoring usage, and retiring content in accordance with established processes. 
  • Provide accurate and complete documentation for all tasks, following industry and organizational standards. 
  • Independently manage project work and requests using appropriate tools and methodologies. 
  • Stay informed about the healthcare environment, EHR and BI technology, and industry trends to build professional skills and drive innovation. 
  • Mentor junior team members and provide expertise in the administration of BI/reporting systems. 

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • Epic certifications appropriate to job function (status of Certified or Accredited) 
  • Learning plan requirements to be provided with offer includes any missing Epic Cogito certifications needed to perform role, and certifications must be obtained within 5 months of starting first Epic class. 

Education Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience with Epic Cogito and/or BI tools, is required. The candidate should have relevant exposure to Epic Cogito Systems, project management, communications, and system utilization monitoring and auditing. Practical experience gained through internships, projects, or professional work is also acceptable.

Experience Required:

  • Typically requires 5-7 years of experience in Epic applications and Business Intelligence tools. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Exhibit strong analytical and logical thinking, creativity, and communication skills. 
  • Team player with a positive attitude and a strong commitment to customer service, along with a desire to learn healthcare-related systems and business processes. 
  • Familiarity with 3rd party BI tools and administration thereof. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of both hardware and software. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and productivity tools. 
  • Understanding of EHR workflows and administration of the reporting in EHRs. 
  • Ability to manage and monitor projects, administer tasks, and communicate key milestones. 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Travel outside of workplace is required and thus incumbent is exposed to weather and road conditions. 
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.

Preferred Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • The following Epic certifications are preferred: Cogito, Cogito Tools Administration, Cogito Project Manager, or any Caboodle or Clarity certifications.
  • Managed and worked on large IT projects in a healthcare environment, particularly in Information Technology. 
  • Experience with ServiceNow ITIL and SPM modules 
  • Strong background in data and analytics in the healthcare industry
