Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Advocate Aurora Health is committed to diversity and inclusion every single day and in everything we do. Diversity lives in the differences, great and small, that matter to us and make each of us unique – from our age and the color of our skin, to our abilities and the things we believe in. We know that empowering our differences inspires creativity that leads to innovative solutions – for our team members, consumers and communities. And because health care is built upon relationships, it’s important for the people we serve to be able to trust us to meet their unique needs. By cultivating an atmosphere of acceptance and compassion, we create a welcoming environment where our patients can heal, our team members can thrive and our business can grow. As a team member, working in a diverse setting allows you the chance to grow in ways that will broaden your perspective to deliver the best possible patient care.

Our HBCU partnerships

To help drive meaningful change, we’ve created intentional, robust and reciprocal relationships with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) by awarding scholarships to BIPOC and First-Generation students as well as empowering them through mentorship, lunch and learns, financial support and more.

Our commitment to our communities

Everyone deserves compassion, love and to live well. This is why Advocate Aurora is dedicated to supporting the community beyond health care. Dedicated to raising awareness and support to help improve the well-being and health of our communities. By working together, we can all make a difference – not just for today, but also for generations to come.

Celebrating Pride

“If we each simply tried to be like the person next to us, the world would be one dull color. Make the rainbow brighter.”

– Amanda Archer
Learning Technology Manager

Pride means more now because of her struggle

When Amanda Archer fell in love with a woman in college, she faced a battle with her identity. Growing up in the South and as a Christian, she struggled with her sexual and spiritual identities. “Pride means more to me now because of the struggle,” she said. “It means I can be who I am without shame or fighting. It means I can be me.”

Now married to her wife of 10 years and raising two young boys, Archer is dedicated to her passion for education, learning and development. What she hopes others will realize is that the LGBTQ community is just as diverse as any other and each person has their own unique story. Read more of Amanda’s story on our health enews blog.
