Aurora St Luke’s South Shore Inpatient PharmacyASLSS is a 275-bed hospital in Cudahy, WI (10 minutes from Milwaukee). Normal census ranges from 50-115 patients. The inpatient pharmacy is open from 0630-2230 and serves the South Shore community. Our department is a close-knit team consisting of around 25 team members. We are a part of a nationally recognized health care provider and offer a wide range of medical specialties in a culturally affirming and compassionate way to help all people live well. A few of the clinical expertise and specialties available at our hospital include stroke care, cardiology, radiology, surgery, intensive care, wound care, dementia/delirium care, internal medicine and a Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic. Tasks may include IV room compounding, preparing/delivering medications, working with automation and being involved with general workflow in central pharmacy. Various hours on 1st and 2nd shift. Minimum of 2 shifts per 6 weeks, but encouraged to pick up more!

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develops competence in dispensing and delivery of medications. This includes developing competence in the department’s use of information systems, technology, and automation used for dispensing and storage of medications.
  • Develops competence in preparing non-sterile products following USP, state, and federal recommendations, as required.
  • Develops competence in entering medication orders in the computer system and/or processing medication requests via the computer system.
  • Develops competence in managing phone calls from customers and team members such as nurses, physicians or patients. This includes accurately understanding and interpreting the issue, timely resolution, or timely hand-off to another team member as appropriate.
  • Develops competence in pharmacy procedures and documentation as required, satisfying legal, regulatory, and department requirements of pharmacy practice.
  • Complies with legal, regulatory, accreditation standards. This includes (but is not limited to) controlled substance procedures, USP procedures and DNV requirements.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) issued by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board needs to be obtained within 2 years, or
  • Pharmacy Technician Certified (CPhT) issued by the National Healthcare Association needs to be obtained within 2 years.

Education Required:

  • High School Graduate.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Good mathematics skills.
  • Attention to details.
  • Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders throughout the work day.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs from floor to chest level; lift and carry up to 35 lbs at waist height a reasonable distance; push/pull with 30 lbs of force.
