Position: Painter

Location: Advocate Medical Group (AMG), Non-Acute Clinic; 2210 W 95th St., Chicago, IL.

Full Time; Various Shifts

Major Responsibilities:

  • Performance of quality work that meets the standards designated by the Manager of Interiors. Demonstrate knowledge of how to apply finishes to surfaces using professional techniques and methods
    •     Demonstrates proficiency with all types of decorating equipment necessary such as but not limited to: brushes, rollers and their proper use.
    •     Experience in drywall installation and taping.
    •     Demonstrate knowledge of how to apply finishes to surfaces using professional techniques and methods
    •     Demonstrates experience in applying various types of paints, enamels, and various other coatings. Surfaces are repaired of all damage as needed, before finish coat is applied.
    •     Demonstrates experience in applying various types of wall coverings to wall surfaces, and prepares surfaces according to manufacturer’s instructions.
    •     Refinishes wood surfaces (doors, casework, etc.) and applies stains and varnishes.
  • Painter is responsible for following hospital procedures, maintaining tools and equipment, and ensuring an efficient use of time.
    •     Maintains continuous knowledge of ICRA and ILSM procedures.
    •     Promotes patient safety – reporting issues through established channels and participating as requested in initiatives.
    •     Assists with maintaining par levels for paint inventory where applicable as determined by the Manager of Interiors
    •     Optimizes the use of all materials
    •     Maintains proper documentation of all work performed.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the latest decorating techniques and materials and completes assignments as scheduled by Manger of Interiors/Lead Painter as applicable
    •     Flexible with working assigned schedules as determined by specific facility needs.
    •     Attends continuing education and training as needed to maintain decorating proficiency

Education/Experience Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3 years’ experience at Journeyman level in the decorating trade.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge of paints, varnishes, stains & equipment Painting Experience
  • Basic computer skills

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • -Ability to bend, reach, & stand for extended periods of time, as related essential job functions. -Ability to work from ladders & scaffolds. -Ability to work safely with the hazardous materials common to the decorating trade. -Ability to flex work schedule. -Ability to travel as needed
  • Ability to lift up to 45 pounds without assistance. For lifts over 45 pounds, lifting equipment is expected to be used or lift with at least one other associate when available. Unique lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case by case basis. In addition, when lifting paint pails / equipment, proper lifting technique should always be used. (Bend at the knees, do not lift above shoulder height, etc..)
