Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Radiographer assistant for the MRI Department. Various shifts

Major Responsibilities:

  • Performs non-technical duties in the Department of Radiology
    •     1)Assists in answering phones, scheduling patients, necessary paperwork.
    •     2)Paging Physicians.
    •     3)Performs required RIS/PACS computer functions.
    •     4)Performs all functions of Film Library, to include processing stat readings, downloading and burning CDs
    •     5)Other duties as assigned by technologists and department leadership to facilitate patient throughput.
  • Assist radiographers with difficult patients, maneuvering carts and positioning patients. Maintains adequate level of supplies.
    •     1)Prepares necessary supplies prior to exam.
    •     2)Cleans and stocks exam rooms with supplies and linen. Maintains sterile supplies from central processing department.
    •     3)Assists patients on to exam table.
    •     4)Coordinates any special needs for the patient by alerting department leadership as necessary.
    •     5)Displays a flexibility to meet department needs related to volume demand and facilitate timely patient throughput.
  • Prepares patients for their exam. Assists in changing patient, verifying physician’s orders, explains procedure preparation, communicates any delays.
    •     2)Maintains a positive "guest relations" attitude and displays telephone etiquette prescribed by departmental policies and procedures.
    •     1)Functions and interacts with a high degree of customer service skills and awareness, strives to meet the needs of the patients and their representatives, physicians, physician office staff and associates of the Medical Center.
  • Ensurance of a secure and safe patient and work environment by maintaining a continued awareness of safety hazards.
    •     1)Adheres to department procedures regarding patient safety.
    •     2)Enters safety events on line as necessary.
    •     3)Adheres to Safe Patient Handling protocols.
  • Participates in assessment of own learning needs and actively seeks opportunity for professional growth.
    •     1)Maintains current CPR certification.
    •     2)Consistently maintains an attitude of professionalism, cooperation and positive interaction with coworker, physicians, patients and families.

Education/Experience Required:

  • High School Graduate. 6 months – 1 year experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • -Good interpersonal skills -Good communication skills -Knowledge of computers
  • CPR Certification

Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • -Ability to perform lifting/transfer activities related to patients. -May be exposed to disease and film processing chemicals -Ability to work weekends, holidays and emergency call-back in order to accommodate staffing needs. -May be exposed to radiation. -This position will need to recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated, i.e. understand child growth and development, ,normal patterns of adolescent behavior and look for signs of normal aging: prior experience with various age groups is preferred.
  • If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
