Drives an innovative physician and Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) recruitment strategy to meet the strategic goals of Advocate Health Care Midwest. Leads dynamic and diverse teams to focus on sourcing, building and retaining top provider talent. Provides consistency and continuity to the recruitment process and ensures the candidate experience is positive and outlined expectations are met.
Major Responsibilities:
- Designs and implements a highly complex integrated physician and APC recruitment strategy, from talent pipeline development thru due diligence. Ensures the execution of consistent and legally sound sourcing, assessment and selection process.
- Partners with the medical groups and operational leaders to ensure the clinician recruitment strategies align with the medical group strategies. Proactively and consistently seeks opportunities to implement innovative and creative methods to help drive a more advanced, efficient and cost-effective recruiting process aligned with Advocate Aurora goals.
- Promotes a culture of innovative partnerships amongst recruitment staff. Drives individual market success by identifying trends within markets and partnering to develop focused strategies in-order-to ensure needed outcomes. Facilitates collaboration at all levels.
- Monitors state and national physician data to proactively identify market movements (compensation, medical school demographics, etc.) requirement changes and/or recruiting gaps. Leads discussions and action planning to develop solutions.
- Oversees the physician recruitment process utilizing numerous tactics, to include partnering with academic leadership to ensure that Residents, Fellows and other trainees consider Advocate Aurora positions, thereby increasing the candidate pipeline. Drives accountability to increase the capture rate of Residents/Fellows and trainees from Advocate Aurora programs.
- Oversees the locum tenens process for the organization to ensure qualified temporary physicians are placed within the organization. Ensures a comprehensive recruitment process, management and review of vendor contracts working with Advocate Aurora's legal department and Risk Management for malpractice, and credentialing and privileging are completed to ensure meeting the start date. Manages and ensure the production of detailed regular data related to locum tenens spend.
- Understands and educates stakeholders related to the use of candidates requiring a work visa as appropriate to increase candidate availability for Advocate Aurora.
- Develops and evaluates recruitment productivity standards to ensure vacancies are filled efficiently with top talent. Continually mobilizes others to identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Manages the preferred recruitment vendors to include ongoing partnerships with strong provider search firms as needed. Develops meaningful reports to measure activity and outcomes.
- Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.
- Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
- Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business.
Education Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field.
Experience Required:
- Typically requires 7 years of experience in physician recruitment that includes experiences in developing successful and innovative recruitment strategies and consulting with physicians and physician leaders to align strategies with organizational objectives. Includes 3 years of management experience in delivering defined outcomes and successfully leading physician recruiting for a large complex organization.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Advanced knowledge of state and federal labor laws and regulations that influence physician recruitment and any potential implications.
- Excellent listening and consulting skills. Demonstrated ability to develop operational partnerships, assess complex hiring issues and needs, and deliver appropriate recruiting solutions across a multiple client portfolio.
- Proven skills in identifying the impact of issues and decisions from a broad perspective and approach and implement effective solutions.
- Expertise in leading projects which includes planning the life cycle of the project and identifying key project activities.
- Proven ability to develop sound proposals and successfully implement programs.
- Ability to work within a fast-paced, team-focused environment. Proven ability to meet multiple deadlines, prioritize multiple demands and identify/solve problems creatively.
- Demonstrated ability to work and function in a complex integrated health care system.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with various physicians and high level leaders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) or similar products as well as applicable human capital management software.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Operates all equipment/computer databases necessary to perform the job.
- Generally will be exposed to normal office environment.
- This position requires frequent travel; therefore the incumbent will be exposed to hazards associated with ground or air travel.
- The position also requires extensive evening and frequent weekend assignments.
