Lead the strategic development and execution of an enterprise comprehensive nursing quality strategy aimed at achieving nationally recognized nursing excellence, while showcasing the value of nursing and establishing Advocate Health as the premier destination for nurses to practice. Core responsibilities will encompass establishing nursing quality standards and structures, guiding data-driven, evidence-based performance improvement, contributing to the advancement of the organizational strategy of a learning health system, and harnessing advanced technology and analytics to elevate patient care quality. Leverage expertise and collaboration with executives and interdisciplinary teams to ensure integration of nursing quality initiatives into our overarching organizational strategy.
Major Responsibilities:
- Develop, execute, and align a comprehensive nursing quality strategy, while providing visionary, transformative leadership to nursing teammates, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, continuous improvement, and collaborating with other executives to integrate nursing quality initiatives into the overall organizational strategy.
- Oversee the strategic development and implementation of an enterprise-wide nursing quality measurement, reporting, and governance infrastructure; ensure the accurate and timely collection, analysis, and reporting of nursing quality data, while optimizing electronic health record (EHR) design to streamline nursing quality data collection and reporting; effectively manage vendor relationships and contracts in this domain.
- Lead the design and implementation of nursing performance visualization systems that support strategic decision-making and drive performance towards top-tier quality outcomes; utilize data analytics and visualization tools to track and identify improvement areas of nursing metrics and implement actionable strategies which leverage technology such as database design/data marts, intelligent design, and artificial intelligence to enable data-driven decision making and enhance patient care quality.
- Lead the development and execution of enterprise and regional nursing performance improvement initiatives and tactics across the continuum of care in alignment with strategic priorities.
- Scale the quality infrastructure and care processes to minimize care variation by developing nursing quality standards and enhancing clinical and administrative leadership and frontline performance improvement competencies; identify and promote the dissemination of evidence-based practices and serve as an evidence-based quality improvement consultant.
- Establish and oversee enterprise-wide nursing quality strategy groups, including executive and specialty groups, while serving as a key liaison for nursing quality in various enterprise and regional forums; develop and implement strategies to collaborate with stakeholders across the enterprise to drive organizational goals.
License/Registration/Certification: Registered Nurse (RN) with an active and unrestricted license
Level of Education: Master’s degree in nursing or a related field (Doctorate preferred);
Years of Experience: Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in nursing, quality improvement and strategic planning.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Expertise in System-Wide Quality Improvement: Proven ability to lead EBQI initiatives, ensuring consistent application of evidence-based practices.
- Change Management: Strong leadership skills in managing large-scale organizational change, particularly in driving nursing quality improvements and aligning multiple sites with strategic priorities.
- Strong knowledge and proficiency in using quality improvement tools and methodologies such as PDSA and LEAN.
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based nursing practice, regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Expertise in data analytics, leveraging technology and performance visualization systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence organizational initiatives and collaborate with diverse stakeholder groups.
- Skills in establishing excellent working relationships and strategic partnering with various teams and executives across a large organization to achieve shared objectives.
- Skills in managing multiple, conflicting, complex demands in geographically dispersed areas.
- Leadership and change management skills to motivate and coordinate engagement through an organization.
- Strong communication skills and tools with demonstrated ability to concisely communicate with multiple nursing leaders and other stakeholders
