Monday through Friday 0800-1700; Must be able to go to Cleft Clinic at Oak Lawn and Park Ridge: dates vary.
Major Accountabilities:
- Manages, develops, implements, and evaluates standards of the craniofacial clinic to facilitate quality patient care efficiently and cost effectively.
- Collaborates with providers and clinical staff to plan patient care, develop educational opportunities, and resolve interdisciplinary conflicts.
- Assesses complexity and case load when determining staffing needs as well as utilization of social services. Annually reviews program standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.
- Develops and implements improvement processes to evaluate identified patient care outcomes. Provides planning and direction for implementation of program goals.
- Keeps documents in AMG-Peds Surgery, Cleft Folder updated. Update Cleft master list with surgeries and procedures. Identifies patients in research study and identify patients not yet screed for the research study. IRB certification.
- Create summary report sheets for reach patient. Ensure orders are placed prior to clinic. Send out appointment reminders to patients. Communicate with Speech, ENT, and CPC providers. Review after visit summary with patient. Assist with referrals to outside specialists.
- Handle all tasks and patient calls for cleft patients.
- Be on-site for Cleft Clinic for both Park Ridge and Oak Lawn locations. Dates vary.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- High School Diploma or GED, ADN/BSN preferred
- Graduate of a medical assistant program or at least two years of verifiable medical assistant experience within the last five years.
- RN preferred
- Clinical experience required
- Good communications skills. Experience using a keyboard and computers.
- Familiarity with equipment used in ambulatory care.
- Current AHA CPR certification.
- Ability to travel locally to multiple sites as needed.
- Ability to work in stressful conditions and difficult situations.
- Resilient and flexible in a changing environment.
- Ability to cooperate and work with others.
- Ability to make sound and timely decisions and ability to work rotating shifts any day of the week.
- Ability to perform lifting/transfer activities related to patients as needed, ability to stoop/bend.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills, within the Medical Assistant scope of practice after demonstrated competency.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with a variety of patients, team members and physicians.
- Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation within a windows operating system, and use of electronic mail with exposure to electronic medical records systems.
- Demonstrates customer service skills that support a positive patient experience.

- This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
- Exposed to a normal office environment.
- Must sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other team member, when available.
- Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case- by- case basis. Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine-hand manipulation skills.
- Will be exposed to the following hazards on a frequent basis: mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood and body fluids. Will be required to wear protective clothing and equipment as needed. Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
