Major Responsibilities:
- Educator: Develops and provides initial and ongoing training for the Environmental services associates to make sure that they are competent in the functions of their jobs.
- 1)Assesses, coordinates, implements and evaluates programs for staff development
- 2)Implements bedside education geared towards enhancing the way that AIDET is practiced in daily workflow with staff
- 3)Maintains friendly, efficient, positive customer service attitude toward customers, staff and co-workers.
- 4)Provides training to all new and existing associates on all cleaning processes.
- 5)Trains Associates on the use of all chemicals and personal protective equipment.
- 6)Trains employees on the proper trash and linen removal procedures. Trains employees on proper set-up of carts including storage, stocking and supplies.
- 7)Provides employees with checklists, guidebooks, or other training material to ensure proper procedures and processes are followed.
- 8)Develops the accountability for a safety culture that creates a work environment where no one gets hurt.
- Competency Assessor – Assesses the competency level of associates to ensure that the provided training has translated into a competent work skill and is part of the associates daily activity
- 1)Ensures employees comply with JCAHO, DNV, OSHA hospital and infection prevention standards
- 2)Assesses Technical skills based on an associates Job Description thru direct observation in simulation lab or in the associates work area
- 3)Assesses competency in High Touch cleaning, assures that the associates are knowledgeable in completing the high touch cleaning steps thru direct observation in simulation lab or in the associates work area
- 4)Assesses AIDET skills in all patient facing associates thru direct observation in simulation lab or in the associates work area
- 5)Ensures that post training, the associate has retained the knowledge that was taught during the training session. This will occur thru various options including post training tests, simulation lab and / observation in the work environment
- Systems / Programs Development – Collects and analyzes training data to determine future training needs and initiatives that will further strengthen the EVS Department
- 1)Monitors EVS training data, inspection reports, SCOUT data and develops operational training that will enhance Safety and Service. This includes annual training competency checklists, specialized skills training, throughput initiatives, etc.
- 2)Implement and monitor dashboards to tracking service and safety objectives in Advocate Scout
- 3)Develops training materials, post training testing materials, competency checklists and other training tools and implements training for new programs
- 4)Provides outcomes on training programs to management team and presents next steps for training programs. This may include specialized training for quality initiatives, enhances training to drive patient satisfaction or safety outcomes, etc.
- Administrative – Provides the department training program the necessary training structure and the necessary training resources that are required to maintain a trained and competent workforce. Creates the training plan, program and resources that are needed for the skill level of the training that is required.
- 1)Develops and maintains the required training resources and documents for all new associates. Is responsible for making sure that all new hire paperwork is completed and training records are part of the associate file
- 2)Develops and maintains the department annual training plan for the completion of annual competency assessment for all department associates, assuring that all required training is appropriately documented.
- 3)Develops training resources, documents and handouts that can be used by associates during training sessions for quick reference after training has occurred. Provides employees with checklists, guidebooks, or other training material to ensure proper procedures and processes are followed.
- 4)Develop training schedules based on department identified needs and statutory requirements
- 5)Coordinate training for unique needs or requests.
- 6)Provide training program feedback to Leadership team
- 7)Publish and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Environmental Services program in alignment with Advocate Standards.
Education/Experience Required:
- • Associates degree required At least 7 years experience in EVS/Housekeeping, with at least 3 of these years conducting training, coordination or leadership responsibilities • Excellent Customer Service Skills • Prior training experience • Presentation Skills
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- • Strong analytical skills. • Proven leadership skills. • Good organizational skills • Basic computer knowledge. • Effective communication and presentation skills.

- Must be able to work in a classroom setting to complete group training, be capable of appropriately giving corrective and/or constructive feedback.
