Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Schedule is 8am-4:30pm – Monday through Friday. Closed Sunday and Holidays. Works as a staff RN when there is need for shift coverage due to call-off and PTO requests.
Major Responsibilities:
- Oversees and directs the operations of assigned department(s) to ensure appropriate use of resources, efficiency of workforce, and overall maintenance of department(s).
- Meets with physicians and support staff on a regular basis to review staff issues and operational efficiencies. Distributes and discusses productivity reports and Clinical Integration reports.
- Adheres to safety practices to maintain a safe work environment and promote patient safety.
- Reports safety issues through established channels and systems
- Reviews and works to resolve safety concerns
- Participates as requested in safety initiatives
- Ensures adequate staffing levels in all areas; utilizing cross training and cross staffing. Adjusts staff workloads accordingly.
- Promotes and facilitates team resolution of problems and conflicts related to department operations, staffing, patient/customer service or associate relation issues utilizing service recovery standards, actions plans, or training, as warranted.
- Ensures delivery of comprehensive patient care, collaborating with providers and other health care professionals in accordance with standards of practice and established policy and procedures.
- In conjunction with department manager/site director, develops, implements, and updates policies and procedures related to department operations.
- Stays conversant on and consistently upholds clinic policies, Behavioral
- Manages daily operations for efficient workflow and encourages involvement of associates in process improvement and waste reduction initiatives.
- Conducts regular staff meetings. Provides a conduit for communication of clinic initiatives, KRA data, and all necessary information to associates and physicians that assist in maintaining and creating a positive and open work environment. Documents meeting using stop light report.
- Performs interviewing, hiring, corrective action and termination activities in partnership with manager/director and HR.
- Participates in and encourages process improvement to positively impact Key Results Areas, as applicable.
- Engages and encourages associates while executing process improvement initiatives within department(s).
- Oversees and carries out standard work audits to ensure associate, Team Lead and provider compliance.
- Ensures visual management is maintained and shares with associates to support sustainment and accurate data collection.
- Analyze staffing patterns, mixes and needs to assure both quality of service and cost effective deployment of personnel.
- Continually evaluates metrics and department performance utilizing visual management.
- Executes administrative accountabilities in support of manager/director and department.
- Creates, evaluates and submits assigned department reports: (i.e., capital, personnel and operating budgets, department financial statements, general ledger, OT-FTE report, etc.)
- Maintains organized department records and data.
- Maintains complete and accurate associate files regarding certification/licensure, performance reviews, etc. to ensure compliance with Clinic, AAAHC and/or state and federal regulations.
- Supports and maintains a Culture of Safety. Monitors, tracks and resolves patient and safety events in the risk event system. Encourages associates use of the risk event system to report all events and near miss events. Ensures timely and comprehensive completion of ACAs and RCAs when indicated. Utilizes information to implement process changes and educated for improvement.
- Coordinates, facilitates, or assists with department(s) or other organizational meetings, as assigned.
- Collects statistics and prepares monthly, quarterly, annual reports and shares data with the physicians and associates.
- Keeps open line of communication with manager/director and department chair on key issues regarding department, associates and providers.
- Performs additional assignments, as directed.
- Provides for associate and self-training and development.
- Serves as site Flu Champion and Fit Testing Champion.
- Assesses orientation, training process, peer mentoring and/or tools, adjusts accordingly to support and enhance associates’ on boarding process, performance, knowledge, and skills.
- Monitors competency of direct reports’ knowledge and usage of Clinic systems/programs and identifies areas for additional training and learning opportunities.
- Performs regular and timely Performance Reviews; including one-on-one conference to clarify results, encourage development and/or explain performance plans and compensation.
- Oversees completion of all development goals, department in-services and competencies within allotted time frame.
- Demonstrates self direction by identifying learning needs, institutes self-development activities/goals and works to improve identified performance areas.
- Acts as a resource to direct reports regarding work or clinic related issues; supporting and directing Team Leads in direct report accountabilities.
- Performs duties in a manner that reflects and is a role model for Behavioral Expectations and clinic policies.
- Creates an environment to promote ongoing learning.
- Coordinates and/or provides department orientation, training and coaching for direct reports.
- Assesses educational needs of the staff and facilitates educational opportunities. Assists individuals with identifying professional goals and provides opportunities to achieve those goals.
Licensure:
- Nurse, Registered (RN)
Education/Experience Required:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred
- 3 years nursing experience
- 2 years lead/supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership skills
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Professional communication and well developed interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of clinic staff and management
- Functional PC skills and working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledgeable of required EMR and PC software to perform tasks
- Evidence of management skills: Good judgment, organizational skills and ability to prioritize work
- Strong clinical knowledge essential to discipline
- Previous experience in mentoring/training associates
- Ability to understand financial statements, budget planning, project planning concepts
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks.
- Current nursing license from the State of Illinois
- CPR certification required upon hire or within 60 days of hire
- ACLS and/or PALS may be required for some specialty departments.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical (and physical lift test, if required by department policy.)
- Must be able to travel to both Palos and Tinley OP Imaging locations
- Must be flexible to meets accountabilities of workforce coverage
- Proven ability to work under time pressures and meet deadlines
