Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Hybrid: Monday & Wednesday – Remote 8:00am-4:30pm; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday – In office 8:00am-4:30pm.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling and Maintenance of Patient Surgeries
    •     Contacts Surgical location (ASC, RC or PMMC) to coordinate surgery time and surgical request
    •     Contacts equipment reps as appropriate to order surgical equipment, devices, grafts, and other things needed for surgery
    •     Completes Pre-op surgical forms and appropriate consents accurately
    •     Completes all pre-op teaching, and assures patient understanding
    •     Schedules surgical cases in IDX system
    •     Edits and updates surgical schedule and notifies appropriate staff of changes
    •     Keeps surgical scheduling book current and legible
    •     Notifies physician/office staff of any problems concerning scheduling of cases
    •     Consistently encourages questions from patients and family and offers supervised guidance that fosters compliance guided by the department protocols or provider/nurse instructions.
  • Dreyer Experience Service Accountabilities:
    •     Understands and practices the Dreyer Standards of Service
    •     Gives undivided attention to customers’ needs
    •     Provides accurate and timely information
    •     Offers alternatives to allow for the customer’s choice in care and service
    •     Takes a positive can-do approach to find answers

    •     Compliments and acknowledges others within department and organization
    •     Participates actively in department meetings and huddles. A minimum of 50% attendance at department meetings is required for all associates.
  • Indirect Nursing Care:
    •     Triages, prioritizes and completes messages as needed, communicating information to patients in a timely manner.
    •     Explains procedures and test results using language appropriate to patient's level of understanding guided by department protocols or physician/nurse instructions.
    •     Serves as an advocate and liaison between patients, staff, physicians and external customers by sharing necessary information to ensure continuity of care.
    •     Assists in backing up telephone coverage for clinical staff in the absence of the unit assistant
    •     Consistently orders tests and assists the nurse or provider in communicating results according to department protocol or as ordered by physician.
    •     Reports abnormal findings, patient complaints, or concerns, to physician or supervisor or nurse when appropriate.
  • Documentation:
    •     Provides consistent and accurate documentation of patient information, care and concerns in the EMR according to the guidelines provided in the Documentation Policy and as otherwise instructed.
    •     Consistently completes referrals and requisitions with all appropriate information including medical record number and services codes or using EMR.
    •     Consistently completes documentation of pre-certification process and approval of surgical procedure
  • Time Management:
    •     Consistently manages daily work flow completing surgical requests within 24 – 48 hours of provider request
    •     Demonstrates flexibility by performing additional duties under the direction of licensed nursing staff or the provider.
  • Telephone Communication:
    •     Answers the telephone promptly within three rings.
    •     Utilizes outlined departmental and clinic scripting.
    •     Displays a courteous, alert and pleasant tone of voice, speaking clearly and in a relaxed manner.
    •     Restates information to ensure clarity and accuracy.
    •     Transfers calls when appropriate, staying on the line and announcing where and why call was transferred. Exceptions to announcing the call would include when transferring to an ACD agent.
    •     Communicates effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Adheres to clinic and department philosophy, policies, procedures, and work rules
    •     Consistently follows clinic and department policies and procedures and will seek clarification if unsure.
    •     Consistently follows absent/tardy clinic policy.
    •     Follows clinic dress code policy.
    •     Demonstrates knowledge of own duties for code blue and emergency procedures as well as location of the manuals, fire extinguishers and evacuation routes.

Education/Experience Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Good communication skills. Ability to type a minimum of 30 wpm preferred.

  • Must be able to successfully complete clinic-based training for all associates. Ability to work with all levels of personnel. Ability to work under stressful situations. Frequent periods of extended standing and sitting. Possible lifting and assisting of patients.
