Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Experienced EMS instructor looking to teach on a per diem basis.
- Participates in Quality Assurance Programs/CQI
- 1)Ensures quality prehospital care and optimal patient outcomes for EMSS patients through implementation of an active QI program.
- 2)Actively supports and participates in EMSS QI Program. Provides reports and documentation of QI variables/monitors.
- 3)Identifies patient safety issues and process improvement opportunities to enhance patient care. Actively participates in developing action plans to address quality issues and provides ongoing monitoring to determine effectiveness of corrective actions.
- 4)Participates in the EMSS peer review boards or conflict mediating boards as requested.
- 5)Assists in conducting investigations responding to requests for clarification. Maintains effective communication with EMS providers, ECRN’s, EMS Team and ED physicians.
- 6)Ensures appropriate follow up for blood/body fluid exposures, as per EMS System protocol.
- 7)Monitors radio communications and ensures maintenance of functioning EMS radio to optimize communication with prehospital providers.
- 8)Is competent in the use of the prehospital EMR software.
- Assists with developing, conducting, and supervising education for pre-hospital and hospital personnel.
- 1)Assists in planning of the annual education calendar and topics for EMS and ECRN’s.
- 2)Provides monthly paramedic and ECRN continuing education classes.
- 3)Assists in the maintenance of files for all ECRNs and paramedics.
- 4)Assists in the administration of ECRN and EMT exams in compliance with system policy.
- 5)Assists in supervising clinical rotations for pre-hospital as well as hospital personnel (TNS, ambulance ride time, EMT-P) at the various hospital clinical sites: Emergency Department, Pediatric Emergency Department, SICU, PICU, MICU.
- 6)Assists to coordinate and conduct public education programs on emergency medical systems and/or injury prevention related topics in response to community needs.
- 7)Assists in facilitating the internship process for provisional ECRNs, paramedic students, and paramedics in compliance with system polices.
- Supports Hospital EMS/Trauma initiatives, outreach and operations.
- 1)Demonstrates fiscally responsible management of EMS equipment and supplies.
- 2)Supports Prehospital and Community Outreach efforts.
- 3)Attends EMS system meetings.
- 4)Attends majority of EMS Team meetings.
- 5)Assists with development and maintenance of EMSS policies and procedures.
- 6)Stays abreast of federal, state, and local statutes and regulations; assists EMSS to remain in compliance with same.
- 7)Supports the Trauma Program in day to day functions.
- 8)Supports the paramedic student education program as needed.
Licensure:
- Nurse, Registered (RN)
Education/Experience Required:
- * Eff. 6/1/2012: BSN preferred, ADN with agreement to enroll in BSN completion program in two years to be completed in five years. 1 Bachelors degree in Nursing or related Health field 2 1-2 years Clinical ED experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- 1 Effective communication skills 2 Ability to promote good relationships among ED Staff and EMS 3.Ability to use A.V. equipment 4 Basic presentation skills 5 Word processing skills 6. Must be self directed with excellent follow through, and attention to detail.
- 1 Current license in the State of Illinois 2 ECRN certification 3 BLS/CPR 4. TNCC
Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:

- This requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 04/20/2014. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
