Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Typical week is Monday – Friday between hours of 7 AM – 3:30 PM. Dependent on department needs and attending to teammates, start time may shift slightly and on minimal occasion.
Major Responsibilities:
Supervise the operations of the Materials departments to better meet the customer expectations and operational needs.

Develops and maintains weekly/daily schedule for associates

Support and enforces corporate, hospital, and department policy and procedures

Recommends changes to department policies when warranted.

Ensures that all departmental responsibilities are completed on time, at or below budgeted cost.

Suports annual goals and objectives for the Materials Management department. Keeps department manager informed on progress toward goals.

Maintains working knowledge of computer systems used by materials associates, initiates system processes as required, including patient care equipment processing and tracking.

Develops daily work assignments for all associates scheduled to work. Revises as changing priorites require.

Monitors employee performance through daily observations and various department volume reports.

Acts as point person for problems or inquiries from other hospital departments concerning deliveries, receipts, par stocking, product availability.

Ensures that all areas are part stocked per the department schedule.

Initiates repair of storeroom equipment or premises by contacting Facilities or outside contractor when appropriate

Address all concerns regarding delivery shortages/overage on all shipments both internal and with outside vendors
Develops associates to their full potential

Conducts inquiries into possible violation of policies and procedures by associates. Takes appropriate disciplinary action when minor violation occurs. Makes recommendations to department manager on possible courses of action for a major rule violation. Works with department manager on final course of action.

Completes/provides performance appraisals for defined associates.

Interview potential new hires, makes recommendations to department manager

Devises and implements training programs for new associates, monitors their initial performance and provides feedback

Conducts inservices on department issues as needed

Controls department records and files

Ensures all transactions, both computer and written, are properly filled, recorded and documented.

Review and approves time cards on bi-weekly basis and ensures attendance records are maintained.

Maintains professional growth and development through attendance at workshops, seminars and professional organization activities.
Education/Experience Required:
-
Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.
-
2+ years lead/supervisory experience.
-
2 years experience in all phases of stock/linen/equipment services.

1 year experience in Material Management computer system.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Good communication and customer skills. Must be team player. Ability to follow written and verbal instruction. Ability to give clear instructions. Excellent math skills. Attention to detail.

Ability to access all areas of the hospital Ability to climb ladders Ability to lift various weights up to 100 lbs. Ability to perform job functions off campus Ability to respond to inquires regarding supply/linen/equipment issues during off hours. Ability to work under stressful conditions and situations. May be exposed to hazardous materials. Ability to work rotation shifts and days of week and be oncall Ability to operate carts, flat bed, trucks and hand jacks.
