Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Dual licensure in WI and IL required. Work from home, but may have travel to sites occasionally for meetings, training or teammate development.Staffing shifts with PICS consistently within role.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates operational and clinical workflows to meet patient care needs.
  • Designs, plans, educates and implements safety and performance improvement initiatives to achieve the organization’s clinical quality and service quality goals.
  • Routinely works collaboratively with leaders in other departments, disciplines, and on other system pharmacy teams to address problems or proactively improve practice. Serves as a pharmacy liaison to service line leaders and interdisciplinary team for service line improvements and strategy.
  • Designs, recommends and implements strategies that minimize cost and optimize medication use outcomes. Ensures team members apply financial initiatives in daily practice.
  • Facilitates the implementation of new processes/initiatives in the department. Reinforces processes through daily communication and follow-up.
  • Provides expert consultation, leadership and education that directly or indirectly influences optimal medication management. Provides leadership to other pharmacy team members and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Coordinates resident and student rotations. Precepts residents and resident projects. Accountable for development of team members. Provides daily oversight of team members to ensure team meets expectations.
  • Performs duties of the clinical pharmacist as intermittently called upon including order verification, medication dispensing, medication transition of care work, evaluation for drug interactions, and drug regimen design.
  • Practices in compliance with department policies & procedures, as well as local, state and federal regulations. Assists in auditing practices to ensure compliance.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • Pharmacist license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
  • Patient facing teammates may be required to have two certifications:  Immunization and non-vaccine injectable to be granted from the state of WI or if from out of state, the program is approved by the accreditation council for pharmacy education (ACPE) or by the WI pharmacy examining board.  

Education Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy.

Experience Required:

  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in in specialty residency training or pharmacy.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Specialty certification required (for external hires, certification must be obtained within one year of hire).
  • Demonstrated decision making, team building, customer service and conflict resolution.
  • Maintains advanced skills in area of practice, demonstrating a commitment to continuing professional growth and advancement of the pharmacy profession.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, and training development skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with providers and staff.
  • Life support training courses may be required dependent on department discretion 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Will occasionally lift up to 35 lbs. without assistance.
  • Must have functional speech, vision, and hearing.
  • Will be exposed to chemical hazards.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • Exposed to normal office environment.
  • May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
