Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Monday through Friday 8am – 4:30pm.
- Answers telephone, screens and directs calls, and pages for calls within the department as necessary, and responds to requests for information. Verifies validity of telephone requests from physicians and/or patients for the release of radiology reports.
- Provides radiology reports and/or radiographic images to staff, physicians, patients and/or families upon request. Files, retrieves, and releases health information records and films.
- Retrieves images to print onto film or save onto compact disc read-only memory (CD-ROM) format. Digitizes outside films, pulls images from advanced workstation (AW) and loads into the picture archive and communication system (PACS). Downloads CD’s onto PACS and retrieves images from PACS from other facilities. Performs all data entry, bar coding, and printing of bar code labels related to film management.
- Responsible for retrieving, logging out, and delivering film jackets to all areas as required. Prepares Radiology film release/copy forms and is responsible for obtaining appropriate legal authorization and verification.
- Explains film copy and sign out procedures to patients and assists them with required paperwork and routes them accordingly.
- Retrieves all films from specialty departments for timely interpretation on a regular basis. Ensures film jackets reflect pertinent information and required paperwork is processed before returning them to the department.
- Responds independently to problems, complaints, and questions from staff, patients, and visitors, and is responsible for handling or referring them as needed.
- Prioritizes x-ray requests when specific medical conditions are being questioned by the ordering physicians, i.e. line placements, pneumothorax, and free air.
- Maintains inventory of file room supplies and distribution. Schedules courier service to clinics and other facilities as required.
- Assists in the administration of the PACS system training program which includes, assisting in identifying and supporting user training, and troubleshooting training problems/issues.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Demonstrated ability to learn new system applications.
- Proficient computer skills including experience in word processing.
- Demonstrated ability to read numbers, alphabetize, and use the color-coding system.
- Excellent public relations/communication skills and demonstrated professionalism to interact with physicians, patients, visitors, and employees.
- Excellent organizational skills and customer service skills.
- Must be able to multi-task and have a high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume area with little or no supervision.
- Must be able to follow directions and work well both independently and with technologists, physicians, and patients.
- Maintains confidentiality at all times.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Must be able to stand 65 percent of the workday.
- Must be able to:
- lift up to 15 lbs. from floor to overhead.
- lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.

- Must be able to:
- push/pull with 20 lbs. of force.
- Must have clear speech and vision and normal hearing and touch to communicate with patients.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
- Required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and twist throughout the workday.
- Lifts, carries and/or pushes/pulls various items (bags, boxes, carts, etc.) while utilizing proper technique.
