Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Monday-Friday11:00am-7:30pmVarious on call periods for some weekends and holidays
Major Responsibilities:
- Maintain all assigned O.R. suites, ancillary areas and department areas in a clean, neat and sanitary manner.
- 1)Clean all assigned areas utilizing established department procedures.
- 2)Clean assigned carts equipment daily; ensures all items are returned in an orderly manner.
- 3)Replenishes supplies such as; paper towels, toilet tissues, soap, etc. Requests supplies and equipment as needed.
- 4)Routinely collects waste; sanitizes all garbage cans on an on-going basis.
- 5)Observes and follows Standard Precaution, Infection Control, OSHA, Accrediting Organization, IDPH and departmental policies and procedures.
- 6)Clean or sanitize after emergence spills as requested.
- 7)Ensures a safe clean attractive environment for patients, staff and visitors at all times.
- 8)Washes hands thoroughly throughout the day; follows and adheres to hospital policy.
- 9)Promotes patient safety by reporting of issues through established channels and participating as requested in safety initiatives.
- Maintain all assigned O.R. suites, ancillary areas, department areas, and clinic areas and corridors with the correct preventative maintenance procedures as outlined in department policy as requested.
- 1)Operates various equipment following department procedures.
- 2)Uses chemicals and solution following department policy.
- 3)Keeps work are in an orderly, clean and safe condition.
- Use appropriate procedures following OR room turnover.
- 1)Thoroughly sanitizes OR bed for turnover and makes beds with clean linen in accordance with department procedures.
- 2)Thoroughly sanitizes entire OR for turnover, utilizing established department guidelines and productivity measures.
- 3)Use appropriates germicide in disinfeting rooms.
- Performs hard surface floor and carpet care in all assigned areas following appropriate departmental procedures.
- 1)Identifies types of soiling and/or spotting and utilizes proper solutions as outlined in department policy and procedures with no documented incidents of misuse.
- 2)Handles chemicals and solutions following department policy.
- 3)Ensures that all chemicals and solutions are in properly labeled containers.
- 4)Adheres to safety regulations as outlined in department policy and procedures.
- Assists in enhancing productivity and efficient operations of the department.
- 1)Exhibits timely, satisfactory completion of all assignments.
- 2)Exercises initiative, seeking additional tasks from supervisor or other staff members when time permits.
- Promotes effective interpersonal and interdisciplinary relatinships, maintaining professional conduct at all times.
- 1)Demonstrates ability to identify and resolve interpersonal conflicts constructively when dealing with members of the organization.
- 2)Demonstrates a position, supportive attitude to patient, families and other personnel emergency and non-emergency situations.
- 3)Displays patience and tact when dealing with other hospital personnel.

- 5)Maintains courteous and pleasant attitude to patient's families and visitors.
- 6)Utilizes appropriate department chain of command in resolving complaints, grievances or problems.

- 1)Attends all mandatory departmental and hospital meetings and in-services.
- 2)Follows written goal and objectives and reviews annually with supervisor.
- 3)Seeks education and learning experiences in areas of identified growth needs and reviews progress during annual evaluation.
- Inspects and utilizes judgment in determining which cleaning techniques outlined in orientation guidelines to follow.
- 1)Analyzes floors or carpet conditions and determines proper cleaning techniques, following department procedures.
- 2)Maintains hard surface floors and carpets following departmental procedures.
- Maintains responsibility for attendance and punctuality.
- 1)Maintains proper attendance requirement as outlined in department policy and procedures.
- 2)Plans for special days off in advance and gives appropriate notice to supervisor per deparment policy and procedure.
- 3)Requests vacation time in accordance with department policy.
- 4)Provides adequate notice to supervisory personnel in accordance with department policy.
Education/Experience Required:
- High school graduation or equivalent is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- No previous experience necessary.
- CPR
Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:
- -Demands walking, standing, handling, climbing and lifting throughout the work day.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For lifts over 35 pounds, lifting equipment is expected to be used or lift with at least one other associate when available. Unique lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case by case basis.
