Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Monday – Friday day shift. Occasional weekend if required for hospital operations.
Coordination of patient flow within the section to minimize delays and Intercedes between physicians and ancillary personnel regarding Technical procedures
1) Directs patient flow for optimum room utilization
2) Change staff room or position assignments based on current department priorities
3)Provides necessary input to manager regarding daily operations of units
4) Schedules staff for rest periods and lunches based on patient volumes
5) Produces technical staff schedules listing daily work assignments
6) Maintains emergency call back-up schedule making sure of adequate coverage
7) Functions as a staff technologist when patient volumes increase
8) Assist technologist and students with difficult procedures
9) Acts as a resource to assist undergraduates achieve higher quality studies
Performs quality control activities to ensure diagnostic studies are performed accurately
1) Responsible for the technical quality of images completed prior to Diagnosis
2) Act as a technical representative when questions may arise as to Quality of images
3)Reports equipment malfunctions and maintenance to the manager and participates in the scheduling of repairs
4)Monitors staff on image quality
5)Assist manager in obtaining performance improvement statistics
6)Performs and maintains records of quality control monitors according to departmental policies and procedures
7)Merges unspecified procedures in correct patient folders in PACS.
Provide direction to radiologic technologists and students on all routine radiographic/fluoroscopic equipment and sophisticated equipment including PACS, computed radiography and digital fluoroscopy
1)Instructs and orientates new technologists to all equipment.
2)Answers staff questions regarding equipment use and operation
3)Assist manager and Education Specialist in coordinating and completing department specific competencies on equipment.
Delivery of Patient Care and a “Service First” approach in accordance with departmental standards of continued quality improvement
1)Follows Accrediting Organization requirements regarding safety and protection of patients and staff.
2)Must promote patient safety by reporting of issues through established channels and participating as requested in safety initiatives.
3)Takes an active role in making sure the general appearance of the department meets “service first” requirements.
4)Takes steps in coordinating and ordering department supplies to meet patient needs
5)Demonstrates excellent communication skills by answering various questions from all customers
6)Maintains positive customer relations following prescribed department policies
7)Assumes leadership role in absence of manager to ensure continuity of quality patient care and department operations.
8)Participates in team problem solving issues that would improve patient care, department operations, image quality, interdepartmental relationships and employee satisfaction

8) Provides instruction and direction to technologists in the performance of specific related duties

10)Participates and makes recommendations for equipment selection 11. ** May perform miscellaneous clerical functions. 12. ** Transports patients into and out of department when necessary.
Education/Experience Required:
Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology. 2 years of radiology. Experience as a radiologic technologist. 1 year experience as a lead technologist preferred but not essential.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
– Graduate of an AM A school of radiologic technology – -2 years of radiology experience as a radiologic technologist – -Experience as a lead tech preferred but not essential – -Good communication skills – -Demonstrates good team work skills – -Demonstrates leadership abilities – -This position will need to recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated, i.e. understand child growth and development, normal patterns of adolescent behavior and look for signs of normal aging, prior experience with various age groups is preferred
-Licensed radiographic technologist by IEMA department of nuclear safety – CPR certification – ARRT eligible
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
-ability to deal with extremely ill patients -ability to communicate with patients. – ability to adjust to flexible hours -ability to participate in “on call” programs and a vailable to department needs with minimal notice. – ability to do light, medium ,heavy lifting. -ability to make independent professional decisions using good judgment skills -ability to practice high quality patient care and technical competence – ability to function with minimal assistance in performing job activities. – ability to demonstrate oral and written communication skills. – may be exposed to hazardous chemicals, processor chemicals -ability to do lifting: light—lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally an/or up to 10 pounds frequently Medium —lifting up to 20-50 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly. Heavy—lifting 50-100 pounds occasionally and/or 10 to 20 pounds constantly
If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
