Schedule Details/Additional Information:

  • Part-time, 1st shift 0700-1900
  • 2 shifts per week
  • Weekend Rotation: 4 weekend days in a 6 week period
  • Holiday Rotation: Two major and two minor holidays on rotation

Major Responsibilities:

  • Perform phlebotomy, IV starts, wound care, Foley catheter insertion, and airway management.
  • Transport patients and place them on cardiac and vital sign monitors.
  • Obtain and process lab specimens.
  • Document procedures and observations; promptly communicate patient needs to licensed clinicians.
  • Assist with medication administration and emergency response under clinician direction.
  • Operate specialized ventilators in critical and non-critical care settings.
  • Support and reinforce patient/family education and document learning outcomes.
  • Process daily patient charges and procedures in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Facilitate communication between physicians, staff, and EMS systems.
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment and ensure equipment functionality.
  • Perform patient positioning and transport using proper body mechanics.
  • Provide age-appropriate care based on developmental and clinical needs.

Licensure, Registration, and Certification Required:

  • EMT-Paramedic license issued by the state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) – required within 6 months.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from AHA – required within 6 months.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from AHA – required within 6 months.

Education Required:

  • Completion of an accredited Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program.

Experience Required:

  • Typically requires 1 year of experience as a Paramedic or in a related clinical role.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Completion of Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) or equivalent may substitute for PALS.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with EHR systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain required certifications.
