Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Approx. 4 hours weekly during peak hours to provide chair massage to patient undergoing cancer treatment.
Major Responsibilities:
Provides massage services for clients using various massage techniques.
- Keep abreast of current massage therapy practices via literature review, networking, internal/external resources, etc.
- Administer all treatments based on recommended standards and procedures of professional nation, state and local regulatory agencies.
- Abide by AMTA and ACTMB codes of ethics
Educate clients as to various methods of massage therapy.
- Maintain clean and safe work environmen
- Consistently maintains productivity level that appropriately supports massage therapy services in a clinic settin
- Document treatments in registered client's electronic medical record using generally accepted practices as recommended by AMTA
- Perform basic intake interview.
- Have client sign advisement/release form as appropriate.
- Assess client as appropriate.
Set goals for treatment with an average of 85% of the visit hands on therapy and 15% of the visit interview and documentation time.
- Set time frame for current treatment.
- Discuss with client any contraindications or time restrictions.
- Properly record treatments provided to clients and support completion of semi-annual reports summarizing services provided.
- Document time worked according to Advocate procedure.
- Actively assist in the development and marketing of massage therapy service offerings and programs to attract new clients and retain existing ones.
- Consistently take active initiative to increase client base through personal contact with members and guests, assistance with health screenings, fitness fairs, member education programs, thank you notes and similar activities.
- Work cooperatively with manager and other departments to enhance existing service offerings.
- Work cooperatively with manager and other departments to develop new massage therapy offerings that complement existing programming.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Required:
- High School Graduate
- Graduate of a qualified massage therapy 500-hour program approved by COMTAA, AMTA, OBTA, or ABMP and by state license board
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Good communication skills
- Good organizational skills
- Current license from the State of Illinois when mandated [2005]
- National Certification from NCTMB or other national certifying body
- CPR certification prior to client contact

- If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
