Schedule Details/Additional Information:
This application is for PGY1 and PGY2 residents

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develops competency in clinical practice including appropriate drug therapy for patients and prevention/resolution of drug related problems. Develops competency to evaluate patients for drug-drug, drug-food, drug-lab, and drug-disease interactions. Individualizes drug therapy regimens based on patient’s size, organ functions, and disease states.
  • Facilitates medication-related continuity of care at admission, transfer and discharge.
  • Reviews and accurately interprets medication orders.
  • Develops competency in dispensing and compounding medications consistent with good pharmaceutical practice including compounding technique, packaging, and labeling. Practices in compliance with department policies & procedures, as well as local, state and federal regulations.
  • Ensures formulary adherence, recommends cost effective therapies to providers, and minimizes waste in daily practice
  • Actively supports procedures and initiatives to prevent medication events. Reports events through appropriate channels. Actively supports department medication safety and quality improvement activities.
  • Provides direction to pharmacy technicians to ensure smooth workflow and service standards.  May work with other pharmacy learners to guide daily activities.
  • Performs the activities expected in the residency program’s design and progresses as outlined by the program.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • Pharmacist license issued in the state(s) of practice, according to the AAH Pharmacy Residency Programs Policy

  • Patient facing teammates may be required to have: Immunization and non-vaccine injectable certifications to be granted from the state of WI or if from out of state, the program is approved by the accreditation council for pharmacy education (ACPE) or by the WI pharmacy examining board.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD

Experience Required:

  • No experience required.

  • Maintains skills in area of practice.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation and training development skills.
  • Demonstrated decision making, team building, customer service, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Life support training courses may be required dependent on department discretion 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • May be exposed to disagreeable conditions due to handling of toxic and hazardous substances.
  • May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
