Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Possible shifts to cover: Mon-Fri 630-330, 715-415, 730-430, 8-5, 1130a-8p, 4p-8p.Sat 630-1pFriday clinic closes at 5p.We have (2) locations will need to travel to. (Aurora and St. Charles)PRN expectations: Minimum of (3) shifts picked up per month, to include minimum of (1) evening and or Saturday

Major Responsibilities:

  • Displays competent understanding of patient positioning and image critique
    •     1)Ability to competently position patients for all exams
    •     2)Perform problem solving, as it relates to physical limitations of patient, during patient positioning
    •     3)Competent to perform image reviews to determine if more views are necessary to complete the exam
    •     4)Able to select and adjust technical factors governing the imaging process
    •     7)Ability to pass annual competentcies
    •     5)Ability to identify artifacts on image and assist in problem solving
    •     6)Has minimal repeat work
  • Displays competent understanding and operation of equipment
    •     1)Ability to operate all equipment in a competent manner
    •     2)Ability to modify technical factors as situation warrants
    •     3)Ability to perform start-up and shut down procedures on all equipment
    •     4)Ensures all images are labeled and marked correctly
    •     5)Inspects equipment on a daily basis during use
    •     6)Reports any malfunctions to leader. If leader is unavailable, contact proper company for repairs, if needed
    •     7)Performs problem solving as situation warrants; ie., equipment malfunction and/or physical limitations of equipment
    •     8)Handles all equipment with care
  • Delivery of patient care
    •     5)Equipment cleaned and documented according MQSA standards
    •     1)Responsible for the welfare and care of all patients directly under their control; i.e., ensure adequate radiation protection and implementation of immobilization devices as necessary for patient safety and comfort
    •     2)Secures history from patients and records in Penrad
    •     3)Performs Time Out before starting any procedure
    •     4)Follow the process for clean procedures
  • Responsible for ensuring PACS and EMR has the appropriate and complete studies
    •     6)Determines if pertinent priors are available in PACS
    •     7)Ensures the image link is available and working in EMR
    •     8)Notifies the PACS Administrator or assistant of any issues they are not able to resolve
    •     9)General troubleshooting; ie. image splitting and merging studies, changing accession numbers
    •     10)Competent to perform functions in Penrad 11. Knows how to properly use iPad for interpreting
    •     1)Demonstrates the ability to arrive, begin and end studies in EMR
    •     2)Demonstrates the ability to utilize Modality Work list/or select patient in modality, acquire and send images from the modality in PACS
    •     3)Demonstrates the ability to log into PACS and retrieve the appropriate study
    •     4)Carries out the QC process for the images in PACS
    •     5)Selects the correct buttons for prior exams and availability
  • Participates in professional development
    •     7)Contributes to the performance goals of the department
    •     8)Complete required classes through ALEX
    •     1)Attends and participates in departmental meetings
    •     2)Maintains required amount of mammography CME credits for ARRT, IEMA and MQSA
    •     3)Maintains current ARRT mammography certification and IEMA licensure
    •     4)Participates in problem solving that would improve quality for the department
    •     5)Maintains CPR certification
    •     6)Provides direction and instruction to new staff, students and staff in need of assistance
  • Other duties

    •     3)Participates in patient education
    •     4)Participate in ACR requirements
    •     5)Trained personnel in QC/QA – notifies supervisor/team lead when testing has exceeded the boundaries

Education/Experience Required:

  • *Graduate of accredited school of Radiology Technology *Training specific to mammography that meets MQSA requirements *One year full time experience as a Radiologic technologist *Mammography experience preferred. For PRN mammography experience required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • *Competent degree of technical knowledge to perform mammography studies *Able to make some diagnostic judgments *Good oral and written communication skills *Good organizational skills *Some computer knowledge
  • *ARRT certified and registered (R) (M) *IEMA Licensure *Current CPR *8 hours of digital mammography CEU's. *8 Hours of 3D Tomosynthesis CEU's/Training or requiement met within first month of hire date

Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • *Ability to work flexible hours *Abililty to stand for long periods of time *Ability to lift patients *Willingness to work overtime when needed *Work under frequent stress in sensitive clinical settings *Responds positively to requests to work on short notice *Flexible in start and end times *Flexible in a changing enviornment *Travels for work assignments if necessary *May be exposed to ionizing radiation, infectious diseases and hazardous materials
  • If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
