Schedule Details/Additional Information:
This position supports oncology pharmacy teams at multiple locations in the Chicagoland area. These teammates are located at clinics in Aurora, Crystal Lake, Downers Grove, Libertyville, Oak Lawn, and Park Ridge

Major Responsibilities:

Develops and executes strategy to deliver oncology pharmacy services.  Plans services and directs the overall operations of the pharmacy services in the oncology service line. Ensures services provided are safe and high quality.

Ensures oncology pharmacy services align with local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including controlled substances. Ensures compliance with accrediting bodies (ASHP, USP, ISMP, etc), as well as OSHA and Department of Public Health.

Analyzes problems and develops/implements solutions that enhance services.  Monitors service levels and takes corrective action as appropriate.

Ensures appropriate resource allocation. Directs resources, including team members and supplies, in an optimal manner.

Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets.  Controls expenditures within approved budgets.

Develops and executes system initiatives including direct patient care initiatives, standard operating procedures, formulary management, and transitions of care work.

Collaborates with teams across sites and disciplines to ensure best practice care is provided.  Represents department in meetings and serves as a member on committees to actively promote department practice.  Serves as a liaison with leadership, medical staff, nursing teams, patients, and other key stakeholders.

Actively participates in quality management and performance.

Designs and directs the work of the assigned area(s) of responsibility. Selects, coaches, and develops teams, setting objectives that align with organizational strategy to inspire and motivate the teams. Manages organizational talent through performance management, succession planning, and development. Designs and directs processes by which team and individual performance are recognized, feedback is consistently delivered, and performance is systematically improved.

Develops and/or recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.

Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that people actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations, and laws applicable to the organization's business.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

Pharmacist license issued by the state in which the teammate practices

Education Required:

Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy

Experience Required:

Typically requires 7 years of pharmacy leadership experience.  Includes 3 years of management experience in managing staff, budgets and pharmacy services.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities including exceptional prioritization, decision-making, delegation, team building, customer service, and conflict resolution. 

Proven project management skills including project design, implementation, and training. 

Excellent oral and written skills, and the ability to interact effectively with pharmacy and hospital leaders. 

Advanced knowledge of pharmaceutical practices

Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite (or similar)

Demonstrated ability to lead and direct teammates

Ability to problem-solve and proactively address issues.
 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.

Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.

Exposed to a normal office environment.

Will be exposed to chemical hazards, so will be required to wear protective clothing as necessary

Functional speech, vision, hearing

Fine motor manipulation of hands and wrists to use computer keyboard and to prepare syringes.
