Position: Public Safety Specialist

Location: Advocate Medical Group Clinics (AMG Clinics), for South Chicagoland

Major Responsibilities:
- Assists in the provision of systematic security and public safety support across assigned areas of responsibility commensurate with relative risk levels, security awareness and emergency training, security risk assessments, and crime prevention.
- Reduces the risk of workplace violence. Through education, training, and testing, improves effective response to workplace violence to protect team members and patients.
- Uses knowledge of the capabilities, limitations, operations, design, and functional use of a variety of types and models of security equipment and systems to evaluate and improve the physical, technical, and operational security posture of Advocate facilities. Facilitates the effective use of security systems, assist users with their role, troubleshoot issues, make recommendations for system provision or improvement.
- Plans, develops, and implements security awareness, training, and education, for team members and physicians. Facilitates and documents regular tests of emergency plans, duress buttons, alarms, CCTV, etc. and coordinates repairs.
- Develops and implements policies, plans, procedures and methods to prevent security incidents, and determines the most effective and appropriate methods of protecting personnel and property. Reports incidents in a thorough, accurate, and professional manner. Analyzes and responds to trends; provides summaries to key personnel.
- Conducts investigations. Compiles information, data, images, and statements in support of the investigative effort. Participates in Threat Assessment Teams.
- Maintains collaborative relationships with leadership team, department/unit directors and managers, physicians, team members, and system contacts. Rounds on internal customers to exchange information and monitor customer satisfaction.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- A valid drivers license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles.
Education Required:
- Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice, or
- Associate's Degree in Security or related field.
Experience Required:
- Typically requires 5 years of experience in in physical security experience which includes performing risk assessments, developing, interpreting, and communicating physical security and safety policy, training or advising internal customers in security and safety, conducting program planning and evaluation in the security and safety field.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Knowledge and skills acquired by obtaining the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and/or Physical Security Professional (PSP) issues by American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS).
- Investigative skills.
- Proficiency Microsoft Office or similar (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerPoint and database software.
- Excellent knowledge of security systems, including video surveillance, access control, security alarms, and infant/child protection systems.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
- Exposed to a normal office environment.
- On call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. May carry a pager.
- Ability to work under stressful situations.
- Ability to communicate clearly, and investigate situations.
- Self-directed, possess critical thinking and analytic skills.
- Ability to climb, walk, run and stand for long periods of time.
