Major Responsibilities:
Responsible for all principal accountabilities of an Audiologist I
Meets all principal accountabilities / activities as identified for an Audiologist I
Assumes a more involved, complex patient caseload
Participation in educational / mentoring activities with Audiology students, medical students, peers, Hospital staff and / or the community.
Assumes role of mentor for new team or program members.
Assists with clinical education through training and instruction of students in the clinical setting.
Promotes Audiology to other professionals and the community through participation in educational and marketing programs.
Provides in-services to peers in Rehab Services.
Assists with orientation process.
Participation in Rehab Services growth and operations.
Assumes responsibility for major project or committee supporting established goals and objectives.
Participates in development of treatment protocols, service policies and procedures, and clinical competencies.
Participates in process improvement and quality assurance activities.
Responsible for staying abreast of clinical and operational developments.
Attends continuing education programs.
Keeps informed of changes occurring within Rehab Services and Advocate Healthcare.
Serves as a role model in the completion of all written documentation according to departmental policy.
Monitors the quality of documentation skills in staff and works with them to improve skills. Provides input to the coordinator on staff skill level.
Licensure:
Audiologist
Education/Experience Required:
Masters degree or Doctorate in Audiology from an accredited school At least 2 years of pertinent clinical experience Experience with student supervision. Advanced continuing education. Experience in providing in-services to peers.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Strong interpersonal skills and communication. Advanced level of clinical skills and expertise Cerumen management experience
Licensed in Illinois Current BLS certification ASHA Certification (CCC/A)
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Required to work evening hours and possibly weekend hours as needed Lifts 20 to 50 pounds occasionally and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly May be exposed to hazardous materials and life-threatening diseases Direct contact with bodily fluids Ability to assist, escort, transfer, and respond to patient needs for extended periods of time Speaks English clearly, intelligibly and fluently Ability to handle equipment and amplification devices Ability to read gauges and diagnostic printouts from equipment Required to work on weekends, holidays, and/or early evening hours as assigned, based on department guidelines. Off campus locations as needed.
This requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 08/01/2014. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
