Schedule Details/Additional Information:
7AM-4PM CST Monday thru Friday
- Manages and coordinates medical collection services to ensure efficiency and maximum reimbursement for services rendered.
- Develops, implements and monitors methods to control the level of patient accounts receivable, and ensure policies and procedures are in effect that facilitate timely and accurate collection of accounts receivable.
- Monitors and measures collection performance against performance targets and ensures consistent application of billing procedures.
- Conducts an ongoing evaluation of collection procedures and develops recommendations for improvement.
- Ensures all sections have developed a high level of patient satisfaction through the use of good human relation’s skills in order to project a positive image of Aurora Health Care.
- Selects and monitors performance of collection agencies and attorneys used in collection.
- Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.
- Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
- Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization’s Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization’s business.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- None Required.
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.
Experience Required:
- Typically requires 5 years of experience in medical accounts receivable collections. Includes 1 year of supervisory experience in monitoring/measuring collections against targets and managing patient accounts collections receivable within a large organization.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Demonstrated ability to handle difficult collection negotiations. Demonstrated ability to manage outside vendor relationships and services.
- Demonstrated ability to coach collection staff in the collection of difficult accounts.
- Demonstrates extensive knowledge in general accounting, credit/collection laws and fundamentals, and current insurance and government financial assistance programs and regulations. Demonstrates a working knowledge of government funding for uncompensated care.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar products and in hospital patient accounting and billing systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of financial and statistical analysis necessary to examine patient accounting activities and detect/resolve any related issues.
- Demonstrated knowledge of claims processing, accounts receivable, billing audits, medical audits, and coding functions.
- Demonstrates extensive knowledge of third party reimbursement programs, state and federal regulatory issues, and ICD-9/ CPT/HCPCS coding.
- Ability to deal and work effectively with multiple departments and in matrix organizational structures. Strong negotiating skills. Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated analytical ability and proven presentation skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
- Exposed to normal office environment.
- Occasionally lifts up to 20 lbs. when lifting laptop personal computer.
- Sits the majority of the workday.
- Exposed to road/weather conditions as required to drive to other sites.
